Stage 4GT upgade

I have been seriously looking into ugrading my TT from a stage 2 to Stage 4 GT from Todd at EVO. Plus I was going to add upgraded brake pads, clutch and the B&M Shifter and billet linkage.

I would like some of the boards respected opinion if this upgrade is worth the added power and torgue.

I won't be tracking the car and the current speed and handling (have PSS9s) always puts a smile on my face.

Any thoughts? Just wondering if at the end of the day the additional speed etc. is going to be that noticeable.

You will notice the difference. My opinion is their Stage IV and IV GT is the best option they offer.

Check out the below threads. They give you some alternatives and some concerns when upgrading to the K24 turbos

Rspiteri,

FWIW, stage 4gt does not use the K24. It uses a hybrid turbo. I haven't checked out Lou's links. But, if they are K24-specific, they won't apply to the 4gt.

I also upgraded from stage 2 to 4gt. The power difference is very noticeable. Drivability is actually improved over a stock non X-50 car. There is also less turbo lag.

IMO stage 4gt is the best bang for the buck for a 996TT.

The Stage 4GT typically comes with 16/24 hybrids, correct?

With the zero tollerence coatings, is this a different package? Stage 4 GTS perhaps?

Is both the hot side and cold side coated? I can see how coating the K16 hotside would reduce lag and reduce heat through improved efficiency, and if the coating pealed off, you woould simply plug up your cats. I am a little nrevous about the coating pealing off the cold side and blowing into the engine. Are both sides coated? How durable is this coating?

My links definately relate to the K24 standard turbos, so thanks for clarification. It appears that the hybrid turbos used are still K24's though. I got this from Evo Motorsports website:

KKK GT-1 K24 Turbochargers: The stock K-16 turbochargers will flow enough air to support about 500 HP. Our modified K-24 GT-1 turbochargers have larger turbine impellers to generate up to 650+HP without increased turbo lag. We hand polish the compressor housing inducer for optimal airflow and efficiency. Dyno tests have shown that the lower RPM power is not sacrificed however top end power gains are significant. These turbochargers are the "real deal" and ARE NOT remanufactured K-16 turbochargers that many other tuners are offering. Genuine K24 GT1 turbos are 100% bolt on direct replacement installation.

I did re-examine the hp and torque graphs though, and I misspoke as the graphs show huge low end and mid range increases. I guess, I should simply stay away from the stage 3 and 4. For me, looks like the stage 4GT would be the best of both worlds. Thanks again for clarification

Fred,

What were you running before? How is low end and mid range? What mods are on your car besides the stunning exterior mods?

How did it compair to a standard EVO 4GT? What's different from a 4GT?

1. Coating the (same 16/24) turbos? (Hot & Cold side?)

2. Programming?

There is only one Evo Stage 4GT tuning. I am referring to the comparison of Stage 3 and stage 4 compared to my stage 2 and the stage 4GT.

www.evoms.com , click and you can view the charts

I know the EVO 2 -> 4GT is impressive.

I was asking FRED the difference between a 4GT and a 4GT with zero-tollerence turbo's. I'm not sure if it has been named yet, but it appears FRED likes it too be called the EVO 4GTR.

Zippy,

You need to ask that question to Duane. I believe the zero flex turbo's provided an additional approx. 30 hp over what the Stage IV GT provided.

I dont believe Fred has zero clearance turbos...only Duane does (and Sharky)...
Stage 4GT uses Garrett turbos in a K24 housing....
I am interested in knowing what the difference between 4GT and 4GTR/S is....
I am holding my money until after the shootout to decide which package to go with (just want new turbos, headers, software and a new single mass flywheel clutch - dont want injectors or other internal work...)....I can hardly wait

Freds car is a Stage 4 GT with the boost turned up to 1.4 1.5. Every bar you turn the boost up you will gain about 30HP
