Set oven to bake 210 degrees NOT broil. Place headlight assembly clear side up on towels not on rack. Heat for 20min. Pull apart with bare hands starting from bottom (forward most edge). You'll see what needs to happen once you get going. Prying with a screwdriver may help initially but be careful with that. I have some pics if needed.

Here are the factory part numbers pertaining to the headlights out of the 2004 RSR PET. The lights are not a 1 piece assembly like on the road cars. They simply have the covers which are the same shape. The lights themselves bolt to the bracket inside the RSR fender.

So what would be involved in building a complete pair & converting over the electrics from Litronics? Is there a vendor who can build the whole set up?

Also what about the turn signal?

Thxs in advance

It seems like these would be pretty cool to use as the main light mine are 4500 Lm on high beam and the low is really focused and clear. They are only a few inches deep would fit easily. I bought clear covers for the race car and plan on using them to replace the pop ups which I can't believe are still on the car they have to be at least 15lbs. I think they even resemble the stacked beams of the 991 a bit.

These were not designed to be street legal. There are obviously no turn signals since it's a race part.

Yes, we know that-but the thread is about how to get them built for out street cars.

headlight lens removal

For oem headlights: Place in oven on 225 for 20 mins. Use thin screwdriver or plastic tools and razorblades to gently pry apart and release from glue. The first time you do this is the hardest. The OEM glue is pretty tough. It's a lot of work but if you want it that bad.. should be a problem.

For anyone else interested, the idea is to make RSR-style leadlamps, not an actual retrofit from the racecar. Our street cars use a sealed headlight bucket and was designed to be removed very easily. Here is what it looks like inside.

The HID + High beam assembly is removed as a unit, and is mounted on a motorized bracket (motorized for easy beam adjustment). My plan is to mount a round headlamp to the motorized bracket. I'm not going to use the Halogen from the RSR; instead i'm searching for something around 5 1/2" diameter maybe LED with built-in amber for turn signal.

Disclaimer: I'm working with a spare set of headlight assembly's that can simply be swapped in and out. I'm keeping the oem for obvious reasons.
