997 Turbo

Bottom line for me is the car is dissapointing. It should look a whole lot more aggressive and I totally hate the exhaust through the bumper. The early reports say it will be heavier and not have a huge increase in power. I will gladly keep my modded 996 tt and spank any 997 tt that comes my way!

Those that know, know, I prefer an enthusiast spotting my car if it is a turbo than the typical "oh It is a porsche."

You are not well informed about the F430. Not a single F430 has come back with problems in its first year according to my dealer (unlike the 360).
Have you driven a F430? I would refrain from taking too hard a stance until you drive one yourself. I had to drive one to see what I was missing. Do me and everyone else a favor. Go to your local F-dealer and take one on a test drive. Then report back how you feel about it.
Furthermore, Porsches are not flashy where I live. There are 6 dealerships within 30 minutes of my home and they sell a lot of cars.

I don't think the words from a person making a living selling these things is a credible source for the F430 being problem free.
Think about how silly that statement is. Not one F430 has come back with some kind of problem? Not likely.
Where I live and 98% of the US, Ferraris are very flashy.
actually

i went to my dealer , in his office i saw a file showing 997turbo order guide , my heart started beating! he went out of the office to speak with somebody ,i couldnt help myself ,i took it ! and started to read like crazy!i never readed that fast!! i had like 3 to 4 minutes ,when he came back to the office he saw me and was very pissed off,i told him sorry i didnt knew it was confidential even tough it was written bold on it "strictly confidential" so once again rennteam is the first to know!!!!
the highlights of what i saw:
3.6 480PS
NO direct injection,standard sequential injection
NO PDK ,standard is manual,5 speed tiptronic optional
TPMS standard
PCCB optional
sport chrono package turbo optional , concerning this one ,i saw the description of it,it was the same description than the sport chrono package ,nothing about the overboost,so why a different name ,i dont know
rear axle differential lock optional
19inch two tone turbo wheels standard
NO carrera gt style seats , only the adaptive sport seats like the C2S
price 4% higher than 996turbo
NO sport exhaust
short shifter optional
and all the rest is optional ,the leather options, bose, telephone, wood, aluminum just like the C2S

The Gallardo also seems to be a reliable car that can be driven. The Italians are doing much better these days in terms of reliability whereas the recent NA Porsches still seem to be plaqued by RMS. I think any car costing $ 150,000 should be somewhat flashy so that should not be a negative. The slinging of the enthusiast word around to either validate or criticize a $ 150,000 sports car is a silly cop out. The fact of the matter is some of us have been driving around in cars very similar to the proposed 997TT for four or five years, even longer if one would count the 993TT, and it is a bit sad when the new Porsche Turbo model does not generate more excitment.

I’d more like to see an F1 style transmission on the turbo rather than a huge power boost.
To bring me back to a TT
I was out driving my 430 today with a big smile on my face and thinking how Porsche could get me to buy a new TT.
I would need:
--significantly different body style than standard 997 which couldn't be copied with a kit so 997 posers could pretend they have a TT
--sequential transmission option--time to join BMW, Maserati, Ferrari
--0-60 in <3.7 and 1-100 in <8.2 (basically as fast as the 430 or faster)
--well appointed car without need to add extra options to make it look like the interior of a 150K car
--limited production to maintain values
This should be easily do-able.

a sequential transmission is so yesterday... DSG or DSK is the way to go and since the F1 trannys are so **** i perfer to do the shifting myself...
i doubt the 997TT is going to be slower than any ferrari in production...
and the interior of the 997 is much more 150k car worthy than the 996TT...
the only thing i can agree with you is concerning with Limited Production... a 150k shouldn't appear every 10 mins... i love the 430 no doubt my 0.02
i will admit
that i have not driven a 997 and have only looked briefly at the interior. i am basically comparing the F-car to my 2002 TT.
i love the F1 transmission, but have not driven other sequential shifters to compare
