Question service etiquette

Question on service etiquette for you guys...

What do you do to get the best service out of your service advisor. Some folks tip the service advisor. I have done this before but I find that I am not remembered b/c it is usually a long time between visits. There is only one dealership in the area and I did not purchase the car from them. I just want to be sure that they will go to bat for me if I should ever have any problems. Any suggestions or should I not worry about it to much?

that's sad. they should take good care of u/car because that's their job.

my story is that my service advisor and i actually become a good friend. it's hard to find a guy that loves car as much as i do & not just does his work.

gonna have passion. that's the key!

Max: IMO, I think when you drive in with a GT3, they will be ready to bend over backwards for you....At my dealer, they are constantly asking about the car even though I am bringing in my Cayenne for service. The uniqueness of the GT3 sparks the interest with not only the service manager, but also the tech who will be working on it...It is true I bought both cars from the same dealer, but since the GT is so rare, they should take care of you...Remember the... "No washey option!!!"

Tipping? Wow! I'd never do that.

Maybe buy them a cake if I was REALLY happy or if they did something spectacular.

So it seems most folks do not tip... I will refrain from doing that. I guess it all really depends on the individual service writer... are they are car buff or is it just a job to them. I had just spoken to the service writer at the dealership and I feel a bit better. He knew who I was, took the time to answer all my questions about the service, and even commented on the car & GT3 seats.

Chris, thanks for the reminder on the no wash option. I know they are not moving enough GT3's through this dealership that it would not be noticed.

Thanks all.

I alway's give the service rep and the mechanic who worked on my car a bottle of expensive liquer after every service and say thank you for all the help ... last bottle was Johnnie Walker Blue Label ... I do this even if the service was bad (usually the first visit) then after that it's top notch ...

as much as you guy's think that you should get top notch service because of the price and the Porsche label you are ... there's just different degrees of good service ... everyone is bringing in a Porsche so you have to differentiate yourselves from the other people who paid as much as you did ...

We tip our service advisor, he is a really cool guy and as soon as we call he takes the car in on zero notice and always is very helpful, we have a good relationship with him and the whole dealership, 1 thing to remember never be a demanding person because they deal with people like that so often you will just be put in that category and you will be forgotten on purpose.

Chris, what dealership do you go to??
Sloth-I got very lucky...my mechanic that does all the work to my car, works with the dealership and helps them out with some stuff...However, I really don't even need this as my service advisor is a great guy and I have become very friendly with him. He thinks it is very cool that such a "young kid" is such an enthusiast of the car and he takes good care of me...
Regards,
Evan
PS-If you ever do have a problem and need a good dealer, come down to Braman in West Palm Beach, that is my dealer for service

I've developed a good relationship with mine because 1). he deserves it, and 2). when good work was done, I made sure the surveys reflected it and his management knew it.
They get paid based on those things. It's like tipping because he makes more money when I do that, but it doesn't come directly out of my pocket.

I go to the only one near me...Langan. While we had a tuff start with the cayenne when it took them 10 days to diagnose and repair the faulty ABS sensor, service has been great ever since. The service manager commented and appreciated the fact that I was so patient and understanding...He said most people are not that way. No service needed on the GT3 yet....probably won't need any for a while. I will be doing my own oil. They do however, always ask me about the GT3 when I bring it in...and I mean everybody...The GM, Service Manager and sales people. I was leaving the other day after having my cayenne snows balanced and a salesman came running out to ask me if I had the hard cover version on the GT3 brochure...I said no and he said they will try to locate me one for collector reasons. We will see, but it is certainly a nice gesture...So in summary, the best thing you can do is to be kind and curteous to the service people.

Great idea Mansour!!! Funny, when I was in with the Cayenne last week, they asked me to stop by with the GT3...They are interested in seeing the GT3 seats and roll bar installed. Sounds like a perfect excuse to stop in with some tasty holiday spirits to show them my appreciation and further the relationship....

Please do not go there Chris....My dad had sooo many bad experience, there isn't a word limit large enough for me to type it all . They have ripped 2 cab tops of my dads, scratched a couple cars, put a dent in one car.... broke so many things on one car Porsche was forced to buy it back and gave my dad a $5000 "coupon" toward his next Porsche because of their stupid dealer (yes the Porsche rep. said "stupid dealer"). If I were you I would do what we do and make the extra drive to Springfield Mass. My dad and I are good friends with the familly that owns that dealership (the Carteli's) and they are the best thing that ever happened to us up there... Damon Carteli is the GM there, if you drop our last name (Kozak) he will do ANYTHING you need!!! WELL WORTH THE DRIVE!!!!
