gararge flooring

got race deck samples today pics to follow , am thinking blk and white to go with the car............ what do you guys think ? this stuff is really neat except when i put it on concrete it sounds like walking on pergo flooring. they make a rubber design that is very quite but it is a b net like meterial... thinking of doing the hard stuff over existing carper and the rubber net over the concrete...

I've been torn on which to go with myself, I prefer the rubber style but don't like that you need to have a layer underneath it or painted concrete (adding another step). The harder version works great but I don't care for the sound, a member suggestion using industrial tile after reviewing the costs and benefits/drawbacks I'm more likely to go that route over the racedeck.

i would stay away from dark colors. It just shows dirt way too much.

You can also go with ceramic or stone tile.(last forever and design is unlimited) I will do Granite in the next house.

I will be doing garage flooring soon and have heard that the tradeoff with Racedeck is the noise but it is a nice look.

I know exactly what you mean, bare concrete and tiles make an odd sounds when you walk on them. When I installed my flooring I used the plastic wrapped foam they sell at costco for laminate floors. It's their install kit found next to the laminate floor packs. It will soften the feel and take that clacking sound away when you walk on the tiles. It took 3 boxes to do my two car garage.

Not so terrific idea. Natural stones are porous and suck in water/oil etc. Even the tires sitting on the stone will probably stain it over time. Even if you seal it, I have never seen a sealer that protects without constant reapplication. You would be better off with a ceramic tile that looks like marble or granite.

The race deck is definately clackity-clack on concrete and not so easy to keep clean with all the surface texture built in. Resilia is a better interlock at almost twice the cost but i still feel it's a little noisy on concrete and clean up will also be tough. If you are bringing wet cars in/out there's no question an interlock will be tough to keep real clean. No matter what anyone says, interlocks aren't waterproof and you could end up with a mold situation underneath if conditions exist. A good epoxy or newer outdoor suitable polyurethane is a durable finish but without spending a fortune you can't have complex patterns. If you like the alternating colors or patterns and don't mind really spending, porcelain or ceramic tile with tight grout is probably the best. Get a somewhat textured top or you will break your ***. The patterns could also be done with vinyl tiles but durability of adhesive could be an issue. There are alot of possibilities and that's probably why I still have bare concrete 2 years and counting.

I have Race deck and actually don't mind the clackity clack!! As for the water and other crap, I put down garage floor mats to park the car on, on top of the Race deck. It holds all the water and dirt and is much easier to clean than the tiles.

Actually there are now new products for this industry that are capable of accomplishing these tasks. Ask me how I know . Without sounding like a commercial I am the product representative for the company that manufactures the setting materials for them. (i.e. mortar, stain resistant grout, waterproofing, etc etc…)

Don't hold back now, spill the beans! I have quite a bit of granite and marble in my home and could use a good sealer.
