996tt header question

Why is the other exhaust manifold welded on the flanges and the other not?
Noticed when grinded the welds smoother today. Should I tig-weld the flanges or not?

On my 2003 Turbo neither manifold has any welds present around the header tubes on either side.

Looks like someone welded that one side maybe because of leaks real or imagined.

If the other side isn't leaking you might want to leave it alone. If the welding doesn't go well the manifold can warp/deform and the exhaust may leak as a result.

I would do it on a jig. Make a panel and bolt the header to it so when you weld it won't deform and stay true.
