High Performance 996 Headlights: Build Log
#31
The H&R sponsered 996 TT race cars with twin projectors are the inspiration behind my project.
I believe Evans final product will be even better than the super trick H&R headlights.

Tiding up a few loose ends. The HID ballast for the fog light will be externally mounted so a 9006 pigtail was soldered to the factory halogen fog wiring and ran through a rubber grommet in the hole which previously housed the headlight washer.
Crumbling wire casing and exposed wires are no bueno, factory wiring for Bi-Xenon Ballast input repaired.
Since the turn signal bowl was blacked out a brighter LED bulb was installed. Sorry for the crooked pic.
Butyl was used to reseal the lens.
GT3 RSR Lenses are actually race spec and have holes and opening on the lens itself which means the headlights are not weather proof. #BecauseRaceCar
Final "Glamour" shots before being shipped out.

Very cool and nice work but the lenses look like shlt and if used on the road I can't imagine they won't get condensation inside right away.
With all that work I would have just used a 996.2 non-litronic light to begin with. Or at least use those lenses.
edit: but you really can't even see the washer lid anymore, very cool.

I wouldn't say they look like ****, the lens themselves look great. But I agree there isn't much practicality in having headlight lenses with holes in them and I brought these potential issues up with the owner and he wanted to proceed. His goals of having a unique race inspired headlight trumped all else and the holes were not a huge inconvenience given his intended use of the car.
