So I read threads about how solid and semi solid mounts helped normal shifting, and feel of the car, blah, blah, etc.. I always thought it was bs and people just thought they felt an improvement because they spent 400$ on 2 mounts. Well...my foot is in my mouth. I can't believe how much more solid and precise the shifting feels just under normal street driving. I'm a believer.

The report that everyone quotes of false knock came from a spec Boxster on the dyno. It may have an effect on that platform, but I have zero evidence that it is an issue for the 996TT. Been running them for nearly a year now.
Are you using any kind of stiffened trans mount? I have the Function First inserts and often think about upgrading the motor mounts as well but cant imagine how much better the shifting could possibly get.

why not "split the difference"? and go with semi's? great compromise, that'll add nvh but easily manageable for a street car.
Poly engine and trans mounts in these cars are some of the better money you can spend. 15 year old mounts are crappy anyway and the stock mount a were soft to be gone with.
upgraded mounts help shifter feel and improve handling quite a bit.
