Installed RSS motor mounts.

So I read threads about how solid and semi solid mounts helped normal shifting, and feel of the car, blah, blah, etc.. I always thought it was bs and people just thought they felt an improvement because they spent 400$ on 2 mounts. Well...my foot is in my mouth. I can't believe how much more solid and precise the shifting feels just under normal street driving. I'm a believer.

I have the torque solution. It stops that uneasy feeling i got when the motor shifted around for me. Good mod.

Yep, they work! I went with Rennline full solid mounts. I was stunned by the difference it made over stock.

I have full solid too. Have you logged any of the false knock sensor induced timing rollback some have reported with solid mounts?

I looked for false knock, did a same day comparison on same road etc, couldn't find any evidence of it in fact the timing charts look identical and no variation in knocksums.. I made a thread about it a while back. I look at logs after track events and I haven't had anything jump out as abnormal and car never feels down on power, if anything it punches above its weight for the mods that it has.

The report that everyone quotes of false knock came from a spec Boxster on the dyno. It may have an effect on that platform, but I have zero evidence that it is an issue for the 996TT. Been running them for nearly a year now.

OP, go take some turns quickly. Car is so much more composed during hard cornering too.

Are you using any kind of stiffened trans mount? I have the Function First inserts and often think about upgrading the motor mounts as well but cant imagine how much better the shifting could possibly get.

Thanks for the info. I have not logged, but seat of the pants feels good with solid motormounts. I am also running torque solution blue transmission inserts. They are noisy but worth the noise for the performance.

This will be my next mod! Recently installed 997 Trans Mount. I do not have the nerve to go solid but I'm seriously looking at the Factory RS mounts

why not "split the difference"? and go with semi's? great compromise, that'll add nvh but easily manageable for a street car.

Poly engine and trans mounts in these cars are some of the better money you can spend. 15 year old mounts are crappy anyway and the stock mount a were soft to be gone with.

upgraded mounts help shifter feel and improve handling quite a bit.

Since I have installed the mounts it has been difficult to drink coffee with all the well planted canyon carving I have been doing. How's that??
