Any "Shift-Right" shifter customers here that can share their feedback??

I am currently running a 997 shifter with SSK bushings over the stock cheesball bushings which is a huge improvement over stock. But still over time their is a bit more play than I would like. I have the GT3cup shift cables installed which also really improved the shift feel. I have shopped shifters and dis my homework and best I can tell the Cup shifter is a longer throw than the 997 shifter because it is made to use the shorter transmission shift levers which makes the throw "right". But the issue I there is for $600 you still don't have a rebuildable shifter. If your cup shifter breaks, buy another. And the side to side lever pieces are still plastic. And I do not intend to swap the transmission shift levers unless it comes apart. So the other options are the Numeric, which appears to be an awesome quality option. But for me, i like the 997 shift throw length. I have never driven a short throw shifter that I liked. And for the $$ the Numeric costs, you get alot. But I will never need that much adjustability. And prefer to not fix what isn't broken. But if I could replace the plastic pieces with metal surfaces, bearings and more importantly SERVICEABILITY, then I would be a happy camper. And the "Shift-Right" setup looks perfect and meets all the criteria I am shopping for. But I have not heard much about them. So if anyone here has or had this setup and can give me some honest non-biased feedback, that would be awesome.

Please, no sales pitches. Just customer feedback.

I'd recommend the 997.2 GT3 shifter... metal bushings, 997 throw length. I have one and love it. If you're ever near Seattle, feel free to give it a try. Also cup shifter is gonna be hard to source, they're NLA last I heard.

I drove a car with one, and it is nice. Shifts like my current shift setup. Is essentially a stock shifter with the nylon lined metal cups like B&M uses. Let me clarify by saying that my shifter setup is still much better than stock with the aftermarket nylon lined metal bushings installed. It is not a problem. But It could be better that is all.

And the cup shifter is the same idea as the 997.2 GT3, but with different geometry for the cup shift transmission levers.

Cup and 997 GT3s share same shift levers on the trans don't they? I've got cup shift levers that I'm putting in this winter when I pull everything, part numbers were the same if I remember right.

Well yeah it could always be better which is why Im changing to the Cup levers... between the cup cables, 7.2 GT3 shifter, semi-solid trans mount, solid engine mounts... my shifter has zero play. I've heard there is some more plastic in there that the Function First kit eliminates, but honestly don't see how it would make any difference in this shifter.

It's cheap enough to give it a try, give yourself something to do when the rains return

I have tried Numeric, SSK, 997 SSK and 997. I kept with the 997 with a Function First kit. Very impressive. Feels perfect.

Thanks for sharing. What were the issues with the other shifters?

No problem with the Porsche OEM shifters. I was after a tighter more precise shift with the correct throw for me. I settled on the standard 997. Shorter than 996, not as short as 997 ssk. Was thinking about 997 GT3, but decided to take it one step further with the Function First kit. It really is nicely done.
Tried the Numeric and it did have a very nice feel and looked like a work of art. But looking at it closely I saw deficiencies that I think would have affected longevity.
PM me if you would like me to expand with video and pics. Some people on this thread are very sensitive.

Thanks again for the info and discretion. No need to expand further.

Also, the Function First is totally serviceable. Not that I think it would need it. Bearings are VERY meaty and sealed. Parts are readily available. I don't pay no mind to those who say the OEM plastic housing is junk. The plastic bearing housing... another story. That's where the kit comes in. I don't believe that the plastic housing deflects either. I put one in a vise and it took some beating. I think If you break the OEM housing from shifting than something other is seriously wrong.
Also, I have no ties to Function First or any other. It's just my opinion. I think if your after adjustability, the Numeric with Function First technology would make a real nice shifter. But it can't be done.
