Will a Stage IV EVO Turbo S be quicker than a C6 Z06?

I am thinking of getting the stage IV EVO package on my Turbo S, but am having serious reservations if it will still be somewhat equal to the new Z06. Any opinions?

505 BHP vs. 600 BHP

Stage 4 should win.

I know the C6 is lighter, but 100 BHP should make up for the added weight on the turbo.

I sure as hell hope so. Z's have a hard time hooking up from start but have lots of torque/displacement. A stage 4 should be ahead on all counts but has a weight disadvantage. Superior traction, HP and torque should keep a stage 4 ahead if drivers were equal.

It should be very close with a slight edge going to the Stage IV.

The C6 Z06 is underrated. The lowest stock dyno I have seen for it is 440 rwhp, and the highest stock dyno I have seen is 470 rwhp. Average is about 450 rwhp which is about 530 bhp.

if you have 600 bhp, then the power/weight ratio is as follows:

Porsche 3480/600 = 5.8
C6 Z06 3132/530 = 5.9

You slightly have the better power/weight, and better drag coefficient (I beleive it is .31 for the TT vs .34 for the vet). The Z06 has the better gearing.

It would be a good race, but I do believe you would edge it out. Yes, the new Z06 is that fast!

I agree. don't totally count out the Z, especially from a roll where traction is not as big of a factor.

from a dig, you'd kill it with your awd since the Z is VERY hard to hook up initially.

Nice way to break it down, and your pretty right.. But also factor in all of the weight loss from going stage 4, exhaust, cat removal if any, there's alot of weight to lose on these cars

Ahh, I did not take that into account. How much weight do you think that saved over the factory weight?

Well depending on exhaust setup, anywhere from 40-80 lbs, 80lbs being if its just straight pipes bolted off the turbo's.. Lightweight battery, no sunroof takes alot off the car if it came that way, which mine doesnt have.

But as for his setup i have no idea what's done really to tell, maybe he can chime in

I wouldn't mess around and go straight to the Evo 640 GT package just in case that certain Z06 modded with headers..ect...ect

From a roll, excluding turbo lag you should pull on him. The faster you go, the less power to weight matters, and the more power to drag matters. In that case, you'll have more power and less drag (well, I suppose we'd need to know the drag area for that). Either way, absolute HP matters more at speed, and the Z's low speed gearing advantage ceases to matter as well.

Given the fairly flat HP curves we see with these modded turbos, gearing at speed seems almost unimpartant anymore...

all good and great with the hp but, drive the 2 of them and itll be a totally diff exp. the z does have some gr8 #s to show 4 the $$$. put the 2 cars on a track for about ten laps and see what shakes out.hell i guess if you pump enough $$ into any rig it will levitate and fly.side by side the evo is 3x the car the z is. sorry im bias and i had to put my 2 cents in
