Has anyone painted their Sideskirts?

My TT is guards red and I was thinking about having the front lip and sideskirts painted to match. I just got off the phone with a local body shop that does a lot of porsches and he said the paint will just chip and peel off. He didn't recommend it. Any experience?

thx

I think on any TT that's not black it's almost a must. Makes a big difference in appearance for the better.

i thought about this a couple of months back but haven't taken the time yet. several member have done this and posted pictures of their cars with it done. none of them commented on the paint coming off. i only think it will be a problem if you have religiously put armour all or any glossy crap on these parts. a good prep job is the key as always

do a search for this topic and you will see all the pics - i think it was either in october or november. oh wait, the search function is not working

I've always painted my side skirts and it never peeled off or looked bad after a while. I hope that you can see what it looks like, painted, from this small picture.

Looks way better. Any good shop can get it done and wont chip. If your worried about chips then just clear bra a couple weeks after paint.

I got mine painted as well, it looks much better, no peeling or chips whatsoever. As Paneraiwatches said, you can put on clear bra later on (wait 30 days at least).

I forgot to mention, you should paint the rear rocker panels (2 sides and 1 center) as well too.

I'm in Gig Harbor, WA. Near Seattle. How much did you guys spend to get them painted? I'd like to have a reference when I call around.

it is no difference than painting a bumper since they're all plastic. however, the primer & the prep work are the key. however, it will get chipped no matter what.

I have the rocker panels, frt lip n rear side valance painted(guards red) no problem with paint chipping at all.you might want to put some 3m protective film in the frt of rocker panel where it meets the frt tyres.

my car is a daily driver...I expect some chips, but the bodyshop guy said the paint may actually peel off like a friggin banana! It doesn't sound like anyone has had that happen. I'll call around to some different body shops

Like Arling said, prep work is the key. On my old Basalt Black '03, I had the front spoiler, side skirts, front grilles, and rear bumper skirt all painted to match the car.
