how do you CHECK whether a TT is a 'regular' or a 'X50 package' ?

from what i'm gathering in here, you can't do that unless taken to a dealer/garage

unless.. ?

You put your fingers through the slats in the rear bumper. You'll be looking for pronounced ridges on the intercooler surface, once you got those, it's an X50. If it's a smother surface, than it's not.

You can also look at the option code sticker under the hood or in your owners manual. Best is to check the option code and the intercoolers.

Sorry to drag up an older post but I didnt want to start a new one seeing as how this one had a lot of good info as it is.

Does anyone have any concrete info on when officially the X50 package was offered first on the 996tt?

Looks like so far the answer is '02 but its not 100% confirmed.

Thanks.
