How Much Extra is X50 Worth?

Conventional wisdom says options are less than .10 on the dollar on used cars. Yet a factory power pack could be worth more as those that don't want more power but like to keep their cars stock might really value.

If two cars have 20k miles, same options but one is X50 how much MORE if any would you say X50 car would bring in open market?

I wouldn’t pay extra, but most list 2-3k higher with it. Who knows what they eventually sell for though.

I agree it is not worth much, but there are people out there shopping used who don't know any better and feel like they must find a car with the x50 option

I researched this quite a bit in '10 when I bought my TT. I decided it wasn't really worth anything to me. My brother bought an '04 X50 cab Tip months before I bought mine and I drove it a few times aggressively in the canyons and it felt good but I don't think it spooled up as quick as my non-X50 6 speed.

In the end, I think it was a brutally over priced option, luring the big buck crowd with the must halves and cost does not matter when special ordering these cars. The reality is very little difference and mainly hype.

the same *add'l* amount as in the other thread $5K when paid by an insurer. about the same in the open market. for whatever reason(s).

Knowing what I know now about k16 vs k24 cores I'd honestly rather buy a k16 car unless I was planning on keeping it bone stock and/or was concerned about resale value.

When I was looking for my car back in 2010, it was about a $2-3k premium over a non X50 car. I went with a K16 car, because I was planning on modding it, so that premium made no sense to me.

for a collector the value is there, if you are going to drive and mod it, then honestly doesn't matter TOO TOO much, as most going for real power will take those k24s out

The S will hold its value better than a non-S, was produced in limited numbers (compared to the standard turbos).
