Help - Thinking of going over to dark side

I am considering selling my '04 TT cab and buying an '04 360 F1 (2500 miles). This will be the first time in over 20 years that no Porsche. My plan would be to keep the F car for a couple of years and probably replace with a 997 TT cab. Does this sound crazy?

Any idea of the what I can get for my 996 TT cab (9000 miles)?

Thanks.

Not crazy at all. That idea is always in the back of my mind. No idea how much you should get for your '04 tt cab but, good luck.

Definitely a step backwards as far as performance and looks in my opinion. I take it you don't like the Gallardo?

Life is short. You should go for it I think. What color is the 360?

Take a huge step forward (at least in style) and get an F430 open top.

Not crazy at all. I've had my TT for 8 months and love it, but want a F430 in my garage as well (for the weekends!)

I know a Neurosurgeon in Tacoma, WA who has a 360 Stradale, rarely driven, who is thinking about selling. I think its Silver. I'm not in the market yet.

Let me know if you want more info and I'll put you in touch with him.

Good luck!

It would be nice to have both. F-car for weekend cruising and P-car for track.

It is sort of titanium, perhaps grigio titano, but not certain. As far as the 430 F1, I just can't justify $100,000 over list and don't want to wait 3 to 4 years, although 10 minutes ago, I was just offered a new 430 spider at $50K over list ($300K) and passed on that.

Cab is not an X-50 and thanks for the offer on the CS, but I want a cab and unfortunately, my garage is not big enough to keep both the 996 and 360. Did consider a lift, but passed on that.

I'd say do it... yes it's a step back in performance, but a step forward in style and "rawness" IMO.

I did that switch last spring. The F may be slower objectively, but it's way faster and more fun subjectively. If attention from others turns you on, this is the car for you.

Be prepared for more maintenance and headaches!

Yesterday I traded in a '98 F355 GTS F1 on a '03 996TT Tip. I've only put about on 150 miles on the 996TT so far, but I can tell you, there's a world of difference between the two cars. I loved the Ferrari, I just couldn't afford the maintance on the thing.

I purchased the F355 in May of '05 and put 8000 miles on it by Thanksgiving. At that rate, I was looking at a major service every 15 months at $5-6000 a pop, plus a $3-400 service ebery 3000 miles. Way too much for my budget.

Comparing the two, the 996TT is just so much more refined, and obviously a lot more powerful. The Ferrari sure did have the sex appeal and the raw emotion factor, and was certainly entertaining in its own way.

So, if you can afford the maintenance, and want to try something different, I'd say go for it. You won't regret it. But, I'll bet that you'll be back in the Porsche camp sometime down the road.
