high mileage tt...okay to modify?
I have an '04 tt with 106,000 on the clock. It doesn't smoke or use oil, has been well maintained...original SoCal car , serviced at Newport beach Porsche, McKenna Porsche, Beverly hills Porsche, Westlake village Porsche. I had all fluids changed, it has AWE headers exhaust, and a 1 bar tune.
My question is can I modify turbos, intercoolers injectors, in other words, make it perform to a higher degree, or do I need to change head studs rods etc.
without having to rebuild entire engine.
thanks in advance for advice... also is there a particular order in modifying these cars
where do I start. also has pss9's and h&r front and rear adjustable sway bars.
it needs a clutch soon, so I will build around clutch and how much power it will hold.
I just don't know where to start...thanks again

You can modify it. These cars will last. This car has 590k+ miles and bigger turbos, no problem. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...0-miles-on-it/
Your best bet would be to do larger turbos, injectors, clutch, and intercoolers.

generally speaking, anything that can be "bolted on" is considered "safe". that said, adding more power now at that mileage if you plan on running it "hard" will, in all probability bring any "wear" parts that are "due" ( you mentioned clutch etc ) to light, or precipitate their earlier "demise" that had they been left at the power level you currently are.
i.e. have the trans bearings been refreshed? clutch etc. they could be "due" ( $$).
also, all that maintainence at those shops would have been "by the book" with absolutely zero "pre-emptive innovative preventative" anything.
but again, in general terms a "tune, exhaust" and a few complementary parts should not be a concern. i'm at 160k miles with 1.2 tune, 16/24's and other assorted "bits". zero issues.

I don't think mileage really impacts these cars at all from a HP standpoint to a certain degree of course. I wouldn't go over 500-525hp at the wheels, generally that's considered highly safe range but still very fast.

I agree with that. Once you start pushing 1.3 bar you run the risk of lifting a head or snapping a rod.
