Recaro Sportster CS Fitment in 996 Turbo

For those with Recaro Sportster CS seats fitted into a 996 Turbo...

Brand new Recaro seats, Planted seat brackets for 996/997 and Recaro sliders with no tabs

My shop removed stock seats, test fit the Recaro seats and called me saying they are afraid the seats will not fit in the tapered tunnel of the car. He measured the stock seats and said they are 18" wide at the bottom/back part and the Recaros are 21" wide. We called Griffin Motowerke and they sold me low profile seat adjustment ***** that should buy a little more room for the seat to move back in the tunnel a bit more.

Anyone experience this? Will I be ok with these new adjustment *****? Anyone else have this experience?

Disclaimer... I am 5'11" 180lbs and I do not have long legs. Also, I have sat in a 996 Turbo with these exact seats and fit just fine, so they must fit.

So, they fit, there are a few threads here and and on Rlist about them. I've been looking at these seats for 2+ years. I know they fit, but i have yet to actually sit in them. Keep meaning to go check them out in person as I need to be able to fit a baby seat in the passenger side.

Ok, so the seats are installed. My trusted mechanic figured it out. First off, the seats are much wider than stock, so out of the box, they dont fit very well. Griffin Motorwerke really helped me with installation pointers, as well as selling me low-profile seat adjustment *****. By using these instead of the Recaro ones, you effectively narrow the seats at their widest point, and thus can now slide the seat further back.

Also, my mechanic was able to use part of the factory wiring harness for the seat belts, so the car is not throwing airbag or seat belt warning lights.

I cannot tell you how much of an improvement these seats are. Soooo worth the money and the headache to install them.

Looks great! These have been on my list. My only issue is I have a Metropol Blue interior and not sure about putting black seats in...

If it's anything like the 997, you have to cut/trim the plastic that holds the factory wiring harness which sits under the carpet. Pretty easy to do, pop off the door sill, move the carpet and a couple of nuts and you can move it around. Otherwise the seat won't get full travel.

What I am unsure of is, for those with a roll bar that uses the factory seatbelt anchor as a mounting point, how much seat travel will be restricted.
