No more smog tests!

I just moved to Florida a few months ago and finally went to register my 996TT. I was about to put my stock exhaust back on to pass a smog test / inspection and I am glad I didn’t. There are no smog tests required here! What a fantastic surprise.
I used to dread this task every 2 years in California. I sure miss the roads there though. Everything is a grid in Florida and there are no mountains - so no mountain roads

Yes, FL is great. I just moved back to NY after living there for 8 years. Amazing roads, not many curves, but there's some good areas, just have to find em. No inspections, easy to register. FL just does things better. I lived in CA too and was lucky to be right in the Malibu canyon areas. There's no comparing that area to any in the country.

Youd be surprised to find some fantastic roads by taking the backroads toward central florida.

I'm on the west coast (Sarasota) so I'll have to pull up a satellite image and do a little research. It's been in the low 70s with beautiful clear skies lately so I really want to go on a nice drive.
The first reply to this thread was a great summarization. I went to the DMV (here it's called the Tax Collector) with no appointment, waited less than 5 minutes and then got my new real-id License, voter registration, custom plate ordered, temporary plate and Florida title all in an hour. It was just easy! Another thing I like is that renewal fees are based on the car weight, not the estimated cost. They use the manufacturer spec weight so it was a couple hundred pounds heavier than my car but still, it's a fraction of the renewal cost I am used to paying.

Take i 75 to state 60 then 27 to scenic 17 down to sebring. Good road with little to no cops well state 60 thru brandon, or you can take bartow roads behind stingray chevy by the landfill and take those backroads all the way to mullbery or alturas then waze your way home to sarasota. Or just plop google maps open and route to legoland or sebring raceway, avoid tolls avoid highways. Best roads in central florida are the old citrus roads just dont drive too close to the semis hauling produce, lots off offroading for them so lots of sediment in their tires and wells!

Welcome to florida btw, home of sunshine, snowbirds and crazy!

I do the exhaust and tune swap game. It's about 2 hours of work every two years. You should see the roads that I drive in Idaho. Unbelievable smooth, curvy, and scenic. No one lives here too.

basically 50 mi of Watkins Glen International with NO traffic.

whenever I go up to Colgate U where I graduated, i take this road. i smile for at least 48 hrs.
