TT and GT2 Top Speeds
TT and GT2 Top Speeds
What makes the GT2 have a slightly better top end speed?
Is it different size tyres, higher rev limit, gearing, or something else.
Just wondered if i will have to have my rev limiter raised to achieve a true 200Mph or it can be achieved through different sized tyres.
For any GT2 owners the rev limiter on the tt cuts in at 6750rpm.
Cheers.

yep. simply more power to the wheels. At top speed the primary
consideration is wind-resistence, which is quite close between
the two cars, so power will decide. Lowering the wind resistence
just a little might tip the balance with either car. I recall an old
article from the 60's (!) where it was claimed that adding a rectangle
of metal to the roof of a Jaguar XKE, the size of a license plate
lowered it's top speed by 10MPH...

I was of the understanding that the tt's top speed was limited by the rev limiter. Ive upgraded to a stage 4 but i still hit the rev limit at the same rpm so my top speed will be the same.
The tt has a lower drag co than the GT2 so has less wind resistance.

If you are hitting the rev limiter in 6th gear, more power will not help you (other than getting there faster). I wouldnt suggest removing the rev limiter. Youll either need to get a higher final gear (lower #, right?) to make each gear longer, or you will need bigger tires (wouldn't recommend this either).
I don't own a Porsche, so I can't say what the 6th gear redline is at.
