Red face Question: Brake Service Kit

I acquired my 996 with a Markski 850hp turbo kit and for some unknown reasons the previous owner was running the car with the stock brakes and suspension. Took the car out for a drive to test out the new Tarrett front & rear sway bar drop links (came with a broken OEM rear drop links) and now looks like my brakes are due next.

I found this two Brake Kit (rotor/pad combination) offered by fcpeuro.com and ecstuning.com and wonder have any owners tried this band what are your feedback? Do they perform better than the OEM ones?

FCPEuro offers Zimmermann Rotor w/Textar Pads while ECSTunning offers Sebro Rotors w/Textar Pads

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assembled-by-ecs-parts/front-rear-brake-service-kit/99635140904oekt3/

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

They all perform like oem. Make sure you get new set screws for the rotors, if you dont have an impact screw driver (not to be confused with impact driver) and a deadblow you might strip the ones installed. I got the ecs set and it works fine.

On another note since youre due for new brakes you can use the 350mm 997tt rotors up front with a spacer kit, also use 997 pads.

Thanks for the comments! Where can I source for a 997TT front bake with spacer kit?

here is one source. You can and should do the rears too. https://racingbrake.com/rb-caliper-spacers-for-porsche-996-997-rear-upgrading-to-350mm-rotor-from-330mm-w-130mm-spread-qty-2-ea/]https://racingbrake.com/rb-caliper-spacers-for-porsche-996-997-rear-upgrading-to-350mm-rotor-from-330mm-w-130mm-spread-qty-2-ea/

In terms of rotors, just order 997tt parts

I should also make my usual pitch (no association, just trying to spare others the stressful hassle of drilling out and time-serting stripped threads on the carrier) to swap out to Tarett caliper studs if you believe you will have occasion to remove calipers more than a couple of times over the life of the car. I’d say they are mandatory if you track often.

Totally agree. I swap pads for the track, studs are basically mandatory.

if you're going with "oem replacement" then the "ATE" rotors are very inexpensive and will do the trick. i get all my stuff from pelican.

textar pads ( tend to ) squeal and suck. though they work and also are considered "oem replacement".

add: after reading the link it appears that the pad mfg'r in that set has addressed the issue of textar squeal not requiring counterweights.

caveat emptor. GL
