Self install of Techart II bumper cover.
Self install of Techart II bumper cover.
Well, after 6 hours and about 6 beers later, I finally installed my Techart II bumper this past Thursday. Unfortunately the directions from Techart are worse then anything IKEA has ever printed, and I used the factory jack. I need to find a real jack for my car, but since she is lowered, I need something with low min. height.
If anyone wants to do this, please do yourself a favor and find a lift to use. I ended up jacking each side up probably 7-8 times to remove the tire, wheel well cover, bumper cover...then reverse of these. Once I got the OEM skin off, I thought it was going to be easy, but had to dremel some holes for the brake cooling duct work, and had to trim the bottom corners of the front aluminum bumper support to get the Techart radiator ducts in. It is unbelievable how much crap(leaves, gravel, and cig butts) gets in between the side dual radiators. I also had to remount my K40 laser diffuser and radar...what a pain. Anyway, I bought the bumper from a board member, and many thanks to Arling for helping me get all of the parts and hardware needed to make this work. Also got the silver hood emblem....that finished the front off.
Here is 1 before and a couple during install and some after pics.

few more pics
a couple more pics. also a side pic...sorry it is in my garage, not the best lighting. will take some more soon. Also need to get the side skirts and rear bumper bottom painted soon.
Thanks..knowing what I know now....I will not do it again. If I had a lift, I would, but never with just the Porsche factory jack. Funny how Porsche uses so many different size torx screws...luckily I had all of the sizes.
Thanks again.....now I need to find a good shop to paint my Misha GT2 wing and side skirts and rear bumper bottoms to finish it off.

Looks great. Nice DIY...I had mine done for me (glad of that now). Question for you...is that a plastic or rubber lip in the front? TIA

Thanks! It is a somewhat soft plastic lip. I already lightly scraped on my driveway....have not been to the G/F house yet....yikes....will reserve the audi for that adventure.
ive scraped mine many times....

Hey Mark, how long did it take you to install yours? Also what did you do about the front screws right in front of the tires. The screws on the OEM bumper screwed into the ends of the front lip...but with the Techart, there were nothing to hold them in. I am thinking about putting some plastic plugs with the part you push in to expand the back of them to anchor them in.
M3CAB,
Good work, I love it when folks take on these projects themselves with help from good guy's like Arling to name but one.
I know at the time you were most likely cursing the fitment issues you ran into but in the end you made it work...kudo to you......great job!...looks really good BTW.

BigBadBen, your 100% correct...I almost got fed up, and wanted to stick the OEM bumper back on. I will have to say though, there are so many great resources on this forum to help others out. The many great sponsors and guys make this "hobby" so much fun.
Thanks for the compliments!
Great job also on your install also....I believe you did the GT700 last year. Correct me if I am wrong, but you had your living room floor filled with upgrades.
