Quick question to those who have installed a Sachs 2.5 clutch
All,
I'm about to wrap up my Sachs 2.5 clutch kit install and wanted verify something before I start putting everything back together.
While I decided to go with the same OEM double mass flywheel, the design of both the clutch plate and the pressure plate are different from the OEM units which I ended up removing. For obvious reasons, I wanted to verify whether I installed everything correct, especially the pressure plate as depicted below.
Step 1 : mount flywheel (same as OEM)
Step 2 : position clutch. The protruding part of the clutch fits nicely into the flywheel center, thus allowing contact between the clutch friction ring and the corresponding metal ring on the flywheel. See picture :
Step 3 : Use clutch alignment tool to position clutch in the center of both flywheel and pressure plate and torque down. This is where I was struggling and could not verify versus OEM set-up. The point of contact between the clutch and pressure plate are a couple of rivets surrounding the center of the clutch plate, touching the back of the throwout bearing. The clutch friction material does not touch the pressure plate (unless this would change after torque down, don't know). Just wanted to verify whether this is what others who have installed this kit have noticed. Thank you in advance for your help.
