Back from the dead

Had a christmas tree sitchuation this week, all the lights came on at once and didn't go off after the MAF was cleaned and the OSB was checked and reset. I was bumed out, the car was running like crap and had a bad exhaust smell. I thought I was about to have to fork out big cash for something but ALONG CAME SUPER RON!!!!!!!!!!! VIPERTESTOROSA/RON came and took my car to his Porsche repair facility and replaced the MAF and all was good again. Go to pick up my car and it is clean, full of feul and ready to go!!!!!!!!!!!! Ron takes better care of my car than I do and I completely take care of this car like it was Pam Anderson. Anyone in the tri-state area should be using the most honest and knowledgeble 996 mechanic thats out there, SUPER RON AT FORREST HILL EXXON IN BLOOMFIELD. He might look mild manered but under that ssweatshirt is a suit with a big S on it. HE IS THE BEST>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Sadly my car is in for a MAF cleaning as well. I also have the EVO intake which was installed 2 monts and 2,000 miles ago. This is not looking good for EVO.

hey ari... Im so glad I didnt try the air box when they came out.... seems liek some cars have the issue and some dont... but it definately happens after u put the air box in.. thats for sure....
I personally think that the box is pushing too much air and the , I know cant read past 490.. so tahst may have something to do with it....
good news is... I have an extra maf and if u will need one.. let me know... I will give it to u for free.. I dont need it anymore...

Give me a break!! "Sadly" my car is in for MAF cleaning. That is something routine and is not the fault of the EVO intake. The MAF problem with the EVO intake is an isolated problem. I've had mine on since the intake was introduced and have never had an issue. I can vouch for many others as well.
Christ, you make it sound like open heart surgery.

The EVO airbox is not the problem. I messed with the MAF whn the PSM/ABS light first came on and thats what put it into cardiac arrest. I use the cotton filter not the oiled version so I can't see how more air flow could effect it. The car ran great.......... really great till it went and now it's back. Most of my mods are from EVO and blowing an MAF with 30,000 miles on a 5 year old car that I don't exactly drive to church on Sundays is not the results of my vflow, I have had the airbox appx 1 yr.

haveing had the evo airbox for 6 months or so , here are my thoughs it's not the air box it's the excess oil that transfers to your maf.I had maf probs soon after comverting to evo cleaned my maf with elec cleaner and have not had a problen in 5 months or more... me thinks that the cone filter may have to much oil in it that transfers to the maf. thus the maf is contaninted. once the excess oil is gone you are good to go... mine is great!!!!!
