Replacement Battery for 996TT

I remember there were some threads about batteries for 996TT. I tried to use search function but couldn't find any. Could anyone help me to find the thread? or do you have any suggestion of battery for my car?

My battery is dead again and it's my 2nd OEM battery. It can't even hold the juice longer than 4 days. I want to try something other than OEM.

Thanks!

Do the Sears DieHard 'international' (size= group 48).
Excellent long-lasting battery and they are good at
installing batteries without losing power, so you don't lose
your radio log-in etc.
Get the Porsche plug-in battery tender. I used mine
religiously, and my OEM battery lasted about 5 years.

I replaced my OEM battery (I agree with you, they are junk) with an Optima yellow-top, which is a relatively lightweight deep-cycle battery designed to survive several hundred discharge cycles. I just added a battery maintainer called the Battery Tender that plugs into the lighter like the Porsche one. It was a lot cheaper than the Porsche one (which is over $100 at my dealer); cost something like $45 including shipping., from batterymart.com.

You can use a size 47 if you want to save a few pounds. I got one at Costco with a free 3 year replacement warranty for about $60. Pepboys also carries a size 48 (Bosch) for $99. The Costco, Pepboys(Bosch) and Sears die hard batteries are all made by Johnson Controls (Interstate). The 47 battery is the same as the 48 except it's about 1 1/2" shorter in length. My second Porsche battery lasted less than 2 years.

I'm running the Duralast (forget the group size) with the hose and all. I haven't had any issues with it in the last few years and this battery is smaller than stock. I drive the car a few times a week, so I have never used a battery maintainer.

My car usually sits a few weeks at a time between track events if weather is bad. Goes dead pretty quick without a battery maintainer. so I went with the porsche one that plugs into the lighter.
Also, I was told to lock the car when in the garage (which I wasnt), this shuts down more electricals and saves battery life also.
