short throw shifter

While upgrading to an Evo stage I, also want to do porsche short throw shifter. How does it compare to stock? A lot more shift effort? Appreciate any help.

No, not much more effort. More metallic, way more direct. Be sure to add plumbing o-rings to eliminate the back and forth slop.

Absolutely a must for the car IMO. I have the same SSK and really love it. Throw is much shorter and really feels like a sports car should. Somewhat more effort but not annoying.
Have to admit though, it is not for everyone. I do know people who had it and did not like it and took it off. Try someones first if you can.
Also, the actual Porsche brand is several hundred dollars more, if the car is under warranty that is the way to go. Again, some have had "warranty" issues when have gone with the generic shifter although both made by same company.
Let us know what you think.

I love mine, wish I had put it in months ago.
I tried one that was very difficult to get into gear, but it must have been installed poorly. I tried a few a sharkwerks, and had them put mine in. Slightly more effort to shift, but worth it for the improved feel and decrease in throw.

Thanks Mark, sorry you had a bad experience, I also know several people that it happend to.
will for those of you with the B&M (many of my buddies do) if a tranny problem arises and car under warranty, they recommend swapping back to OEM before the dealer sees the car!!

I went into the dealer asking to have the OEM SS installed and they put on a B&M without even asking me. (For the same rediculious price as the OEM). That being said, they have been VERY mod friendly and have supported me on a couple of minor warranty issues that could have been deemed to be my problem. [edit] I love the B&M unit.

B&M makes the OEM piece.

How much does a SSK normally cost if you buy it through a dealer?
