WOW! Very nice Sharkmeister!
Just a little perspective from a 6speed point of view:
If you clipped the 1/8 at 118mph (based on my personall experience) you should hit 151mph in the quarter at a et of 9.72 (given your 60-foot time is 1.62 or better). Great Job!!! Are you having the "Craig" treatment done to your tranny??

All in all....I BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE A 9second TIP!

Heya Alex,

I have some new treatment indeed, however it was 114mph and not 118 Also remember my gearing is different so I doubt it would have been that fast. More like 143 or 141...

I just dug up a 114mph 1/8 mile slip...resulted in 144.35 and a 9.988
Well.....you still have a 9 second tip....

It's a 9second car my friend! Get it back and I will bet you lunch on it..

Todd's car with older software did 143mph already so it could be close to 9s. We'll see what she does once she's back but my guess is I'll be hovering around the low 10s for a while. Until I really get rid of some camber, soften the suspension etc.. On theory it could be a 9 second car but in practise... well I broke my tranny:P I think that the tranny on the Tip is now the weak point in my car where as all this time beforehand it used to be a strong point. Those last few mods pushed her over the edge I think?

Ah man.. I'm becoming a bench racer:P

I called you this weekend about your tranny, but you were unavailable. One of your employees told me that you plan to simply replace your broken tranny with another stock unit, and drive it until that one breaks. I don't think you will get many miles out of another stock unit before your bust it. While you may have squeezed 36k miles out of your last tranny, most of those miles were driven with a less powerful set up than you currently have. I suspect your current set up will bust a new tranny in much less than 36k miles. Consider beefing up your tranny to handle your HP. Perhaps you can install a used tranny in your car for the time being and send your busted unit to Germany for strengthening. That way, when you snap your second tranny (and you definitely will), you will already have a strengthen unit ready to go.

Just my 2 cents.

Craig

IMO. The tip will have a lower trap speed due to the gearing that affects the balance of the run. While a 6 speed will shave to hift to 5th. most probably to reach that trap speed, the tip will be in third gear, better times due to shifting twice less but slower trap speed due to ratios. Does it make any sense?

Yes, but consider a much higher redline on a modded 6speed...try 8K+ in that equation....

Hi Craig,

The plan is to put one in for now to drive and whilst it's being beat on to see what we can do with the one that broke.... I have talked to all kinds of people and whilst they initially say they can do it, I'm more worried that all they will do is "paint it blue" (aka do nothing) and ship it back. Nobody really opens these up.. Even 9ff, I'll bet you they don't do it in-house. I'm a bit weary of that company to be honest- they ripped off some folks I know I think Jean has had similair experiences although I hope yours goes ok!

I contacted just about everyone on this side of the Atlantic and the ONLY company that would even look at it was RENNTech. Porsche tranny specialists such as Copan and Guard, among others, wanted nothing to do with it. Automatic tranny specialists wouldn't go near it. Todd's guy took one look at it and declined. Nobody stateside has any experience building these trannies (other then RENNTech), and you will have a very hard time finding anyone who will even try. Unfortunately, RENNTech's upgrade is somewhat limited (they only add clutches), and RENNTech states that it is only good for 600 hp. When I told them what I had done to my car, they urged that their upgrade was likely insufficient.

9ff does it in-house. Moreover, they do FAR more than simply "paint it blue." Their upgrade includes new gears, clutches and friction plates. I'll let you know how it works out.
