Mods and Resale?
Mods and Resale?
I am fairly new to all this mod stuff. Currently my car is bone stock and I have been getting info trying to decide on who and what I was going to do. I had decided to go all out...Protomotive 550...Anyway I was talking to good friend who has owned MANY Porsche's although no 996TT mostly older stuff..all turbo's. He has done tons of mods(as much as can be done on the older cars). When I told him I was planning on getting a 600HP car with Hybrid turbo's he said I was nuts. He reminded me that if I wanted to ever sell the car I narrowing my market substantially. In addition to maybe killing myself driving a car with that much power. I do realize that many on this site are mod nuts so we are biased but how will this effect real world value. Will a buyer think that not only is the car unreliable but we must have driven the hell out of it further downgrading its value?

Mod it to your tastes and enjoy it. If you part it out before selling, you can probably get 50% back if everything is in good shape. If you leave them on the car, expect 20% back, maybe.

Have to agree with the above JB, the mods are for your entertainment not to change the value of the car. And resale could go either way, some are looking for cars already with some mods to save money and then they are a selling point, the other guy sees a modded car and runs the other way thinking that the car had to have been abused and now the guy wants to dump his problems on me!
Set the car up the way you want and enjoy!!!!
