removing gas pedal assembly-updated with pedals pics.

I was wondering if someone can tell me how to take the gas pedal assembly out. I bought new pedals and the machined screws to install the gas pedal are about 1/8 inch too short to screw into the nuts. I was thinking I could drill some of the plastic material out from the back of the actual gas pedal to get the screws to catch the nuts.
Thanks for any help

Bill Oxley is infamous around these parts
.

I had the same issue with my new alum pedals. Easier to get slightly longer screws from the hardware store.

Use self tapping screws. They will hold just fine and the install is much easier.

Like Wross said, do not monkey around with taking pedal off,
I got self-tapping screws with my pedals from
www.ultimatepedals.com and it was 1.5 hour no-brainer.
get self tapping screws, no nuts needed on gas pedal.

Thanks, I did end up going with the self tapping screws for the bottom 2 holes on the gas pedal. The top hole I used the machined screw and nut.

will do once I get to my camera. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to do.....45 minutes of it just trying to figure out how to get the damn gas pedal cover on. The short machined screws screwed me up. I had to think outside of the box to get the gas pedal on...should have done that from the beginning. At least on my next car, I have learned what to do to make this easy. Live and learn.

What they said! I just installed mine last weekend. Don't screw around with removing the throttle.

I would definitely use at least one machine screw along with the tapping screws - you don't want that baby coming off!! Tapping screws are fine for the dead pedal.

Also, when you're screwing into the locking nuts, I found it easiest to use a small pair of vicegrips to hold the nut in place.
