Brake Fluid resevoir Problem

2 times in the past month I have opened the hood and there was brake fluid around the fill cap............. the level seems to be fine but it is coming out of somewhere. I did have 1 instance where the brake pedal was very firm (engaged high and was very firm) compared to the past. The last timeit happened was when my ABS/PSM/CE Xmas tree lit up and had to replace the MAF. The cap is tight, where the f is it coming from? I see it on top of the panel next to the battery and then down below. Any ideas????????

I don't know how to crrect the problem - but I will tell you that during a track event last weekend, the top of my reservoir had little beads of sweat like droplets of fluid on it. I removed and re-tightened the cap and have not seen the phenomenon again - but have not had the fluid as hot either.

hmm, how old is the brake fluid? if it's over 3 yrs, you should flush it.

You are kidding right? If rotor is changed, the pad should be changed as well. If the dealer went cheap on you, I highly doubt they flushed your brake fluid. Chances are, your rotors warped and over heated the brake fluid. You could have air trapped in the line as a result and boiling over easily which causes over flow. I've never seen this but that's my guess since you tightened the cap and it still boils over.

Does overflow happen when you brake hard? If so, I think fluid change will probly solve your problem. If not, having the fluid flushed can't hurt since it's required every 2 yrs anyways.

I had this problem, after several "swaps" of the reservoir up front, the dealer determined that the pumping unit on the motor was the problem, they swapped that under warranty and no more fluid leaks. The system was over pressurized and forcing fluid out the cap up front. Sorry, about the lack of technical terms. My experiance matches very well to what you are describing.

I am going to start at the fluid and work my way up......... they deff cheaped out because the rotors had cracks from the holes and didn't do the pads........ I think I have 1 of the few cars that had the cams replaced without doing the whole engine (actually had to bring it back to replace a gasket after they did it) thanks for the input I'm out of wty and I already owe Ron 2 much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
