Angry The Verdict is in on Foriegn Affairs!

I am very pissed off I will start by re-posting my origional post.

Ok, Here goes.
My reason for being a little worried is that my comments involve Bob and the guys at Foriegn Affairs. My direct experience with BobC4S has been great. He has given me some really good service and great prices on work that would have cost me almost twice as much as Champion. He also helped me alot at the PBOC event, and you guys have even heard me thank them repeatedly on this Board. The problem I have is with the quality of service my referals have received. My good friend Jason has an 01 996 and a 99 Boxster. He was hesitant to send his cars anywhere other than Champion Motors. I convinced him to give the business to Foriegn Affairs, so he brought his out of warranty, leased 99 Boxster to Bob for a Check Engine Light. My numbers may not be exact but Bob's people quoted Jason between 200-300 dollars for items the car need. When Jason went to pick the car up, He was handed a bill for twice as much.
Around $1100.00. He was obviously upset that he was not informed of the extra cost and was unfortunately entered into a biding war over the price. Bob knocked a little of the price for him
and they agreed on $900.00 but he was not happy about the experience. 2 weeks go by and the Check Engine light is back on. Jason call's Bob and informs him the car is still not right. Bob tells him to bring the car in and Jason reluctantly does. Jason says don't do anything to the car without calling me first. after a few hours Jason receives a call stating the cost to repair the car would be $2800 - $2900!!!!! .. New ECU etc
He says "forget it" I will come and get the car. Bobs reply is at least let my blow out the valves and see if that corrects the problem. Jason asks how much and Bob tells him $40.00. Jason gives him the go-ahead and send his wife to pick up the car. Bob's people hand her a bill for $285.00 needless to say this is not a good way to do business. Jason gets on the phone with Bob and tells him "look this is the second time you have done work to the car without checking with me. The argue yet again, had Bob hands the phone back to Jason's wife and rudely say's "Get Her Out Of Here" "Just get her out of here"and walks away. Jason asked Bob during conversation if he could have some kind of breakdown of what the car needed for $3000.00
Bob's reply was "I am not giving you that information so you can take the car somewhere else!" I just can't believe this happened to one of my best friends. I invite Bob to reply to this, and if I stand corrected for whatever reason then "so be it". My feelings are that referal's reflect directly on me, and I assume that the level of service I received should be the same for whoever I send their way. I am sure this is hard to swallow for whoever had purchased items at unbeatable price's for Bob and Minibeast. I just felt like airing the dirty laundry, with hopes we can overcome this.

I am so angry right now!

There was nothing wrong with the car or ecu!!!!!!!!
Foriegn Affairs tried to charge one of my best friends for a new ECU and a number of other parts that were in perfect condition!
They wanted almost $3000.00

The car was first checked by JCM in Ft.Lauderdale. The computer was hooked up to the Porsche diagnostic equipment and everything checked out fine!

CJV you were absolutely right!!! .....his post below
"Jeru,

The check engine light is usually related to not having a good seal on the gas cap or the delta difference on the two oxygen sensors on either side of the kats. That translates to something causing your kats to not function properly. Like exhaust being to rich, ie induction air leak etc."

After that, the car was taken to Champion. We were informed that maybe only one ECU per year is EVER! replaced on a Boxster.

JCM has NEVER replaced one since the Boxsters release in 1997!

Unless there is somthing tat JCM and Champion dont know, Then Foriegn Affairs will be out in my book. It is a Fu**ing shame that people have to do business like this. But it is great when they get caught in the act! I expect this from a refridgerator repair guy, But not from a highly recommended Porsche shop.

Word Spreads fast! ...Believe me!
I have a BIG mouth when I want to

Please reply Foriegn Affairs, I know there is two sides to every story.

I guess even useing a board sponsor is in question, no peace of mind, I never used Foreign Affairs and had a bad taste for them from the start.

being a board sponsor doesn't make these businesses any better than one who doesn't kick in a few dollars for some recognition. go by recommendation and reputation. this company might be looking for some extra cash for their kid"s Christmas presents...

This is very horrible. If this is true, Foreign Affairs has just lost many potential customers. I am very curious as to what Bob has to say to all of this.

I believe it was out of respect to those who make this board possible, being that sponsors do pay a good portion of the bills around here.

Wow - that sounds a bit strange...
You know nothing about them, never used them, but "had a bad taste for them from the start".
Based on... nothing?
Did Miss Cleo tell you something?

The posted bad experience, is on the otherhand, unfortunate and to the extent it may be true, disturbing.

Board sponsors are not doing you a favour...they are paying for advertisement of their products.

Now, along with this advertisement in a free market economy, there is the possibility of choice and valid criticism. My point is, you shouldn't have to ask permission from anyone to express that.

This is America right ?

Remember folks, without users of this forum, the forum doesn't exist. Its about time the voice of the users was respected as much as those "who pay the bills"....

JMHO and no offence intended to anyone in particular

I am only suggesting that dis-satisfied experiences should be discussed with the board owners first, prior to posting inflammatory opinions whether justified or not....If there is a bad experience with a sponsor, so be it and let everyone be availed of that fact, but I think it's important that the boards owners know about it before they get blind sided on a post and have to get their ear ripped off by the sponsor. Diplomacy not anarchy is what I am suggesting...

Fair enough, but that sounds more like informing the admin of a concern (which is reasonable) rather than seeking their permission (which doesn't seem reasonable). That was the reason for my original post.

Anyway, best regards rockitman ! That GT3 is pretty sweet !

Any extra goodies planned for Christmas ?
