Porsche Recall Notice

As most of you here know I am out of the country and so away from my car...My friend who is 'house-sitting' got a letter from Porsche and told me it was some sort of recall notice relatied to the power steering on 03TTs. Anyone else get this or know anything about it? I am trying to get a copy faxed to me but until then if someone can give me more insight that would be great.
TIA

Recall is to check that a connection on a power steering hose has a crush washer and is torqued correctly. I brought mine in to dealer and had it checked while I waited. No work was required.

Recall specifics

This was discussed on Rennlist some time ago but here goes...

The fastener/connection between the Petrosin hydrualic fluid reservoir serving power steering and clutch actuation may not have been torqued correctly during production and leak causing loss of power steering and, worse, fire if the fluid comes into contact w/ the exhaust and other hot parts. I received my notice last week and had it corrected at my dealer today. 30 minute repair.

I checked my connection before going to the dealer and it was dry but the dealer technician said it was not torqued correctly (i.e. it was loose). Make sure they stamp your maintenace booklet as evidence that the recall repair was completed. Search Rennlist for additional details (someone posted the entire .pdf file that Porsche submitted for the recall).

Hope this helps.

Mansour:

I think it is a ploy by the big "B" to take your car out!

My car is an '02 Kevin. This last summer, I noticed the fluid level in the power steering / clutch reservoir, kept creeping lower. I couldn't figure out where it was going. I bet the reason for this is related to the recall issue. I'll be calling my dealer on Monday.
