1.4 BAR boost
1.4 BAR boost
I have a non-x50 996tt with an upsolute chip and europipe exhaust. I took car out today and noticed under futtle throttle the screen showed 1.4 Bar. Normally it only hits 1.0 bar. Do you think my chip has malfunctioned and is putting out way too much boost or is the sensor just misreading the boost. The car seems to drive fine.

take a look at your chip, some manufacturers increase boost with their chips to upto 1.2 bar...1.4 bar is a LOT of boost though, and i would have that checked out.
Also, doesn't the stock turbo non-X50 boost to 0.8bar ?

There is no way you are hitting 1.4 bar. If you did the TB would close in a heartbeat. It is set to close in an over boost situation a at 1.3 bar. I would hook a mechanical gauge up to make sure you are not really pulling that much boost.
maybe ur spiking.... and I agree.. get a manual guage.

Yes, I believe its just spiking but regardless it said 1.4 BAR, which freaked me out. Car did not feel any faster (would have noticed the .4 bar) so it must not be right. I will try to watch the boost more frequently now and see how long it is above 1.0 bar. thanks for the input. i will check wastegates. anything else i should check?
Upsolute is not a real "tuned" chip. They just tried a bunch of different things and when people stopped complaining they had a product.
Anyways, the high boost is a reading from a point in time at which you already released the throttle and the TB is closed. The boost at that point is that high in front of the TB only. Pressure is so high since it can't go thrugh the TB.
