this is the correct info from an expert on rennlist... something is wrong with you or the car IMHO unless you have changed factory gears, ring pinion or tire sizes

Well i have the raised limiter to 7k-7100 and just watched a speedo video from 40 mph in 2nd to top of 4th and it hit about 139-141mph by 7k flat, cant really see the number but looks to be about 140 maybe a little more!!
Are you familiar with the turnzero gear calculator. They have a 996 setup. Just click the variables for a vehicle and pick the one you want.
If you change the final drive, tranny gears, tire size, etc you can plug in the changes and bingo.

Those speeds are for the 996GT2, it has same gearing but taller tires, the TT reaches slightly lower speeds at same RPMs.

At 7-7.1K RPM you will see about 4mph more, 134mph or so.
Sideways, nice link! The gearing shown is for a 996 Carrera, in 4th gear the TT and GT2 have a ratio of 1.12 whereas the Carrera has a shorter 1.22. So it needs to be changed on the software as you said.

Speedo
Is nonlinear, always reads higher at the top. Jean knows as do others that have spent a lot of time going fast. A GPS with high gain antenna is easy to use for verification.
