Usuallly stiffer springers do help spool up and sustain boost... the flap doesnt flutter as in the stock springs under higher boost levels...
different tuners use different springs... some use 12 bar some use 1.2 bars....
just make sure they will be set just below the thresh hold b4 u hit 1.3 bars.. so u dont close the TB.
I had that problem but used a boost controller to get around this issue and I also had the diode installed to avoid the TB shut down.

willcoxmd is infamous around these partswillcoxmd is infamous around these parts
are new wastegate springs better than having the stock ones "calibrated"? I'm not sure exactly what that means, but my stage 4 upgrade included "wastegate calibration"

thx

So Mark...what would be a better choice....the EVO wastegate spring upgrade or a Greddy boost controller for someone running Stage 2?

well, u have only stage 2 running on stock k16s... tahst ur limiting factor...
so anything u do will not produce real power unless u have k24 hybrids...
u can do the greddy and play a little... maybe sustain a nice 1.1 bars max.
u can also just turn up ur springs a turn or two and mabe ull get some more juice out of her... again not much(k16s). u can also go with stiffer springs but again.. k16s

Yea i gathered same thing after lots of talking with mark lol, im going to give it a try with my v flow i will be putting with the evo wastegates! Probably a waste considering im def. going to upgrade the turbo's and so on, but w/e, no harm in trying it out!

BTW Mark didnt know you cna use a boost controller to alter boost level with the 996tt's?!

Hey Martin, keep me update with your wastegate spring upgrade. I want to have little more from my stage 2 before turbo upgrade.

Ok drove the car alot with the new wastegates. This is just what I observed. Car used to peak boost at 1.0 and go to 0.9 and then drop some more. Now I see 1.1 (never did before) and holds at 1.0 as long as the pedal is down. this is with a stock X-50 with race cats and straight pipes.
Seems like a good improvement?!

Well the only noticeable power increase/gain will be where you are sustaining, and for you that is the 1.0 bar instead of the .9 steady. .1 is definitely noticeable and can equate to what, like 20-30 hp if im not mistaken, i though i was told or read that somewhere, forgot though. Anyway i doubt it would be extremely noticeable but i do believe you got a pretty good gain, better throttle response and so on!

BTW you dont want it boosting any higher, your hoses will start flying off left and right

u can push ur stock k24s to 1.2 bars... so if turn up ur WGs one full turn clockwise... u should be just fine

Any better throttle response? More importantly, less lag?

the boost comes on faster... and it holds boost better....
the trick is to have a program tuned for external WG control... just like in all other turbo cars.... via a boost controller.. thats just my opinion..
