What would you do...?
What would you do...?
Here's my scenario...
You can see my rides in my signature, and I'm working on getting rid of the E500 to get a TT. (Can't let go of the fun that the Boxster S gives me - both as a top-down car and for its sheer tossability, so the E500 goes, and the Boxster S would become my 'daily driver'). I don't do much freeway driving - down to an average of twice a month or so for any distance (Dana Point to LA - about an hour w/o traffic, which is RARE). However, as I do still play cello professionally here and there (being busy with my companies has forced me into semi-retirement, but I get to play for movie studio soundtracks here and again, and playing with LA Opera is just awesome), I have need to be up in LA frequently for a month at a time - usually only 3 months a year. For example, I have some performances coming up that makes me go there about every 3 days from Feb. 2 - March 14.
Let's say I get rid of the E500 and get a TT - then the Boxster S is my 'daily driver' and so therefore my freeway cruiser, as the wife still needs the baby car, of course. The E500 was my freeway cruiser (and a damn nice one at that). I have only a 3-car garage, so I can't get another beater cuz there's no place to put it, not even at our rental properties location. I was thinking originally of turning in the S and E500 for a turbo and getting a TL type-S as a freeway car, for the few times I go. I drove the Boxster S after thinking that and am just not ready to give it up. I'm NOT interested in the turbo cab, so don't go there as a possible solution.
Will I be ok in the Boxster S for freeway driving, or will I need to either forgo the TT, or get rid of the Boxster, or get the TT and a 'beater'??
What would you do?

Why have you ruled out a Turbo Cab? Based on what you have said I would keep the wifes car, keep the E500 as my daily and get the Turbo Cab, you live in cali, great balance. Just my opinion.

don't like the look of the turbo cab, plus, there's something about having a 911TT that just screams 'coupe' to me...

Hey Teutonictrio,
If you are performing in LA, we probably know many of the same people. Many of the "brass" guys in town are friends of mine. Regarding your current situation, I agree with Ken, buy a lift!

Why not use the TT as a daily driver? I do and I absolutely love it. There's nothing more fun than driving the car that you love the most....EVERYDAY!

don't have enough room for a lift - garage door openers and attic all up in the roof area, plus, I need more lateral space for the hydraulics themselves and the 3rd bay just doesn't have enough room.
I say get rid of the boxster and keep the benz...once you drive the TT you're not gonna want that slow thing LOL...Its also the oldest of your toys so maybe its time to say goodbye...

Since you love the boxster so much, sell the benz and buy the TT . Keep the audi for your wife/family car and alternate between the TT and the boxster as your daily driver. You get the best of all worlds!
yeah, it's a relist (About the 3rd time), and the seller is a bit of a jerk. I contacted him about it, and actually said his reserve was too high, then he ranted on about how fair it was and whatever, and now of course you see he lowered it...whatever.
The worst part was that I said his price was too high based on mileage mostly, and that the rest of the turbos I was looking at had 6k-8k miles, which is average for an '02 turbo. He said the 14k miles were 'honest miles' and that everybody else essentially messes with the odometer with turbos. That makes him the ONLY honest seller in the world, apparently.
Just rubbed me the wrong way, which is too bad because that thing is SWEET and has everything I want but the techart or aerokit...
