996 Turbo aftermarket clutch options?

what are the options for aftermarket clutches, and approximate cost?

Which is best for the street and ocassional track duty?

Anyone redone the OEM.. how much is that (as a comparison)?

Thanks in advance guys

Probably the most popular is Sachs...stage 2 with LWFW. Multiple suppliers offer these (or versions of these).

I will throw my hat in here. I have run over 7 different setups in my own car and tell you the pros and cons of each. Drop me a call and I can help.

Stephen.. we just finished a GT700 here and the customer needs/wants something that doesn't release/engage so high on the pedal as the stage III.

Stephen,

I'll be needing a new clutch soon as the pedal efford increased and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear became harder to engage... This was obviously accelerated by me fitting a 508 RS Tuning kit...

The thing is I want a higher spec clutch kit but keep the OEM flywheel and stock feel and spend as effectively as possible (i.e. spend as little money as possible) what do you suggest and prices please. Feel free to PM if you prefer.

Kiko, I will PM the price stuff. You know how I am. On the clutch, bottom line is I love the L/W setup, but for feel with the bigger setups the DM is a fine solution and works well. It absorbs enough of the chatter and lowers the release point back down since it is about a 1/2 inch thicker. The end result is a lower pedal with near stock effort and a smooth transition.

Sachs clutch and LWFW, some noise do to single weight fly wheel, but faster acceleration and easier heel toe at the track. Dont waste your money putting in an OEM set up!

I would say that as far as an actual pressure plate and disc, but as far as the flywheel I have to disagree.

Unless you have run a factory flywheel and a lightened/modified pressure plate and modified disc you can't compare the stock setup to anything.

The L/W flywheel is a 1/2 inch thinner which will move the position of the pedal upwards for release and makes off idle drivability twitchy.

While I have no issue with it I would say 70% do. I build and sell more clutches then I care to admit, and can say this has been a real complaint. Again, it is like an exhaust...it is subjective what is drivable and what is not.

Good advise Stephen,

sidenote: I drove Tom Kerr's car and was very skeptical...
but it was very easy to modulate!!
