Evo vs RUF
Im not pissing on anyone here...In fact, my next Porsche will probably be a RUF ordered car (i dont like the 993 look of the 997 so will wait for 998)...I was just trying to show that performance wise, the IA600 kit is as good and for a lot less (especially with the weak dollar)...
Why is everyone against me all of a sudden??
I have nothing against RUF. I ahve the pedals in my car (and YES, I do believe they are the sweetest pedals outthere) and was going to get RUF wheels until RUF GMBH told me that they do not have proper offsets for the TT and thus need spacers front and rear (big ones on the rear too
)...

What made you go with the IA600 over the Stage 4GTR?

eek ?
Hardly....
msindi,
My intention was not to personally attack you, but to just put and end to this thread. But, I'm sure it will go on... Sorry about the signature comment.
Good to here you want a true Ruf built car. I was thinking the same myself. Especially if your doing a euro. delivery there is nothing like an Autobahn break in. Plus I here the Ruf's love to spoil there customers, you might get a chance to hang out and have dinner with them.
Cheers!

msindi,
I am doing his strictly from the educational standpoint. I don't care who comes out on top.
I looked back at the AWE dyno post. They do look close. I also don't care for graphs. They look good but it is hard to determine much. Do you have the power/torque from approx. 2300 thrrough approx. 6800 rpm's in 100 rpm intervals? We could figure out average hp/torque with this information.

Guys, the completley overiring factor for me is that I plan to do the installation myself and now you are looking at $18k ish so there is no price comparison anywhere anyhow ... in any way. I don't think the Ruf components are available individually and you get full support in self installation.

I bet it would be expensive, and besides, you could get the same performance for less money...
sound familiar ?

Ok guys...I guess I am having trouble expressing what im trying to get across so I quit...
Im not sure many of you in this thread know me but you can check all the threads in this and other forums and I never like to start wars or flame anyone or any company. I only relate my experiences (like the total BS with Upsolute) and give my opininons. I am done commenting on this thread.
rufinit - yeah I do realize my sig is getting long and has some unnecessary mods listed...I'll fix it when I get new pics and get back to the US (overseas now)
Happy New Year to all
RufMD - NICE CAR!!! Do you know what size spacers you running?? I almost prdered those wheels but was scared off by other board members because of the increased unsprung wieght (heavy wheel + spacer)...

I think you guys need a dose of reality, so here goes.............

Cost included the following:
• Engine conversion (including exhausts, ECU remap, K24’s, upgraded clutch, air filter, intake tract, etc.) - €25.2k
• Adjustable suspension - €4.0
• Front bumper (painted) - €1.8k

• Pedals - €0 (complimentary)
note: conversion was done on in Phaffenhausen at Ruf's facility.

Note, I do not have an upgraded clutch (yet!!), nor an intake tract as Sean does. So, with my self installed way of doing it, my comparable total is about $27K
If you were to have the work done and only lift a finger to write a check, then I would surmise the cost would be roughly equivalent to Sean's price.
I could additionally sum up the costs for the numerous other upgrades in the car like:
But I do not want to be sick this morning!!!!
Also, here is the HP/Torque overlay of the RUF 550 package and the IA600 package. There is no disputing the fact that RUF under rates their packages.
And as a courtesy of Todd at AWE Tuning:
And, for your argument pleasure, I present a graph of the two winning power curves overlayed.
Who really won? Remember, area under the curve wins!
Sean's 2003 996TT. Ruf R Turbo conversion.
493.8 wheel horsepower, 467.0 wheel torque
KPV's 2002 996TT. K24s, GIAC chip, Europipe Stage 2, headers, K&N.
490.8 wheel horsepower, 474.60 wheel torque

At least this way, if you guys duke it out, you will have the facts to work with.

thanx Ken....
Also note, the numbers titled 'base' are KPV's...If we integrate the areas under the curves KPV gets the biggest numbers for BOTH HP and TQ...

Ken excellent write up on this topic and I feel that you are right: Apples to Apples on this subject! BTW Mansour your sig was only picked apart out of frustration becuase some individuals can not deal with the "TRUTH"...at least you got an apology

I'm sort of a sad Ken clone and plan to do most of what he has done, for the same reason he has done them. No comparison when you do the wrenching yourself. Stage 4GTR will stack up extremely well against the Ruf and again, at nowhere near the cost (labor mostly).
jcramair1.... what "TRUTH"? I just like to waste money right, thats why I have a ruf... Yeah, I did apologize 'cause I felt like an ***! Nice way stir the pot, my man! There I feel better now.
