No warranty on Diverter Valves!
No warranty on Diverter Valves!
I have the CPO extended warranty on my 01 Turbo and had a secondary air cel code. The dealer diagnosed a DV failure, fixed it and told me that my warranty does not cover this and charged me $700 to replace it. The moral of the story is: If you have a CPO or out of warranty Turbo replace the crappy OE valves wth EVO or Baileys NOW! It will save you grief in the long run.
Yes I know.....and that was for one valve! They were supposed to diagnose and then call me. Now I am going to replace BOTH valves with the good ones! AAH life is cruel sometimes.
FWIW I am writing to PCNA, requesting reimbursement. Porsche is calling the DV`s a secondary emissions related part which is not covered by the CPO warranty. Since this a part known to fail and Porsche knows this I am hoping that they step up to the plate on this one. The irony here is that I am replacing BOTH DV`s with Evo or Baileys. Hey anyone want an OEM DV with only 24 miles on it?? I`ll pay you to take it!

You might consider reading the original mfgr's warranty and the terms of the CPO warranty extension. Don't take the dealer's say-so as to what a part is or what the warranty coverage is. For all you know he is charging you for a repair on which he is also receiving warranty reinbursement from Porsche. Federal law also applies to the longevity of and warranty on emmission parts. Do you homework here (the internet has all the info you are looking for) before you start calling Porsche so you will have your arguments ready to go. You might also consider small claims court as the means to remedy an improper charge placed on your credit card by the dealer. The worst that happens to you here is the loss of the minimal filing fee.
Not to carp on this matter, but the EPA has this to say:
If you or a qualified automotive technician can show that an
emission control or emission related component, or a specified
major, emission-control component, is defective, the repair or
replacement of the part is probably covered under the Design
and Defect warranty.
The Federally required warranty period is from 2 years/24,000 miles to 8 years/80,000 miles, depending on the nature of the failed part.

Good luck
