Final Wheel Spacer Question :(

I've had tremendous difficulty finding out which size wheel spacers will fit a stock 02 TT and wheels (and tires). My car is lowered with FVD PSS9s.

I called H&R and they said that all cars are different and that they do not recommend due that fact.

I sent FVD two messages and received no response.

I have also posted here numerous times with no clear answer.

I am positive that 15mm spacers fit all around. The question is will anything wider fit: Front or rear?

I guess I will be ordering 15mm spacers in the morning if no-one can help me.

Ari im almost 100% certain 18mm could fit all around, but there honestly is no need for it. 15mm is fine enough, or at least 15mm front and 18mm rear. I will let you know tomorrow if im using my spacers when i go to the shop, if not they are yours

ari,
don't recall seeing ur post. here's my opinion.

on the rear beyond 15mm u're pushing it depends on ur alignment. u can get the factory 17mm spacer kit for Cayenne or 996 sport techno wheel. it's a nice kit comes with caps etc. that being said with 17mm u'll be at ET28. it's almost a perfect fit but slight chance u might want to get the fender rolled especially at around the tip of the rear bumper where the fender meets. same as 18mm. for the front i wouldn't use 15mm. that's too much imo. with 15mm u'll be at ET35. GT2 & GT3 runs 8.5 x 18 ET40. although ur wheel is half inch narrower i still wouldn't recommend u to run beyond ET40. if u only care if it'll fit then it will fit but there might be slightly rubbing when the wheel turn lock-to-lock.

Agree with 20C4S about not fitting more than
15mm on rear.I have 15 rear and 6 front and happy with the look and handling.

My dealer told me that 15/15 was ok on the 993tt, but not on the 996tt.He suggested 6mm is max you should do on the front.

Hope this helps.

Ari, I have factory 5mm fronts and 17mm rears and my car does not rub. Keep in my mind though that I'm at ROW factory ride hight. Arling is right that 15mm for the front seem to be way too much. It's why I am staying with my 5mm front spacers. I also track the car and never noticed any rubbing under aggresive driving at all.

Ok, I'm really sorry to hijack this thread...that being said you guys seem to know this stuff better than the so called experts I've asked so the question is, will turbo twist rims fit on a narrow body 1999 996 C4 cab? I currently have spacers but don't know what width and can remove them. Thanks and again sorry for the hijack Ari...

topspn, sorry but the turbo wheels would be too wide for your narrow body. With spacers it'll be even worse.

if you put 6mm on front and 15mm on rear for a stock set up do you need to replace the lugs? Also does it matter what brand you go with? TIA

Khalid,

Thanks, that's what I thought and several have told me, but I've seen turbo twists advertised by people claiming that they had them on narrow body 996 with no problem.

Regards

i can see where the confusion is coming from. just like the 996 GT3 wheel Porsche makes many fitments for different car although they all look identical. Porsche makes turbo twist in 8 x 18 ET50 & 10 x 18 ET65 for narrow body car as well as Boxster. hope this helps.
