Sounds normal to me. They maintain the battery at a specified charge level and they do turn off and on in order to maintain that level.

Yup...it's a trickle charger...when it's at full charge, it stops charging and the light goes out. If you plug it in for the first time and it does not light, there may be a bad connection with the plug in the cigarette lighter socket....

anyone have a link to this product? We've been looking for a trickle charger. Any reason this is better than any others?

The Porsche one is convenient because it plugs into the
cigarette lighter, but there is no technical assurance it's
better. An independently-tested brand that is very good is
"Battery Tender". I have both, and use both very happily.

Drbill, That is normal, if you ever want to check if it is working properly just turn your light **** so the parking lights are on and check to see if the red light goes on the maintainer, if it lights up red its working fine.
