impact of 19" wheels on performance
Car finished power upgrade and GT2 ring & bumper installation at ByDesign. Now interested in the 19" cargraphic racing wheel but was told they are 6 lbs heavier than stock TT wheel per wheel. How would an addtional 24lbs unsprung weight affect the acceleration, 1/4 mile time and handling? Love the look of those wheels but don't wanna take a big hit on performance especially acceleration.
Please advice and thanks in advance.

Actually I think HREs are the best wheels money can buy...They have a new lightweight competition series thats only available in 18 but im pretty sure they will have 19s soon....Check the wheels/tires forum
At the shootout one of the cars blew a tire because it had great looking 19s but ridiculously tiny sidewalls and hence I'm more a fan of function than "looks". 18 reverse lips look like 19s anyways...
I know a guy that has had problems with the HRE wheels cracking from track use, the best wheel money will buy for the car is the stock hollow spokes and I would recommend staying with 18" wheels.
planning to downsize to 18inch from me too...
i might go with 3-piece HRE competition wheels...in 18 of course...
i like 3 piece, even though they're heavier...but they're easier to repair...

can someone post picture of 18" cargraphic? I have seen lots of 19"s but not even a single 18".
I know 18" are definitely better for track but how about daily driving? How much would the 19" hurt the street ride?
Thanks

i have 19 for street...
doesn't really hurt anything... as long as you don't bring it to track...
even canyon run is fine with 19... it's not that easily cracked...
it's pretty strong still... good enough if you use it for occasional track event...

If you want to take advantage of your new power upgrades, get 18's. It was evident that from the shootout that 19's slow cars in both the 1/4 mile and track. Keep in mind that there are currently no 19' track tires available yet.
In any case, if you just want looks go for 19's. Hey I am actually toying with the idea of selling my HRE's and going with the 19" TechArt Silvers to match my Cayenne TT. ;-)

Silver Techart Formulas in 19" on a silver car do look great !
They will "blend" and be subtle and that way you car will not attract much attention and you can slip by un-noticed.

If I go the TechArt route, I am getting the light silver color to match the color of the car. It blends better with the entire car, thanks!
