Lowering My Baby

So the shop has my car until Wednesday for it's techart kit and gt2 wing, they asked me if I wanted to drop the car while it was in the shop. i think they quoted me $800 for H&R springs installed? what do you guys think? i know car with the techart kid look kindof strange, i feel it needs a more aggresive/lower stance for it to really look good. any ideas? i think the shop said they could also do a few other brands of springs, pss9 coilver setup...

how does the h&r lowering springs compare to stock oem? the shop tells me ride quality is a little bit worse but not terrible, 1.25 inch drop, and corners better... any thoughts/recommendations? i'm have the shop do it with the bodykit if there is a good option for approx 1k or less, if it's more, i'll do some more research and get it put on later.. any ideas on a good setup for 1k or less? the car won't be tracked so i guess coilovers is a little excesssive?

thanks

Jason

If the car the is NOT going to be tracked I think that is the best and most cost effective way to do it. however the PSS9's are a good street upgrade from the stock set up but certainly not necessary for what you need if car is just show and bling. also that is your only option for 1k. all others start at around 2.5k and go up fast.

I had H&R lowering springs on my car for a couple of months and the handling was terrible. Changed to PSS9's and sway bars and love it. The H&R lowering springs really mess up the handling, IMO... That said, I have the springs for sale - they have less than 500 miles on them.

so i guess my questions would be how does H&R lowering springs compare to stock OEM springs? does the H&Rs handle better than oem springs?

due to the springs being stiffer than the stock spring the H&R will not be match to the OE shock. Therefore the handling will be worse. I have PSS9's on my BMW and Porsche and love them. You can make them all the way soft and it is actually better than stock, great for road trips. Then you can make them all the way firm and have a great handling car on smoothe surfaces. The are also height adjustable.

I would go coilovers for sure if you can swing the $$. If you are looking for PSS9's, there are often some good deals on EBAY. Here is one example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...spagenameZWDVW

I posed this question before buying coilovers for my 996TT, and i got a lot of mixed opinion abotu the PSS9's. Most all said Motons are the way to fly. I ended up going with Techart Vario's. My ride is more firm, but personally i like it. It is by no means harsh, and i love the way it handles over stock.

The sponsors can also help you...and offer install & support. INstalling them is one thing, getting them set up and the ride height set properly...thats the important part.

Porsche Springs

I am taking delivery of my first C2S this October - I put the X51 kit in and will be adding on Cargraphic Turbo 19"rims.

I have been reading and studying the lowering of the car and it looks much better than the stock height.

When I inquired with both Cargraphic and Dealer, they both sell lowering springs ($500ish pricing) and its not so much the price as it is the ride.

I'm planning on a daily driver in CT - back roads mainly - so I'd like a tight but not harsh ride (am not going to the track).

I would like to lower the car while I have the wheels off at the dealer to do the swap.

The dealer will only install the Porsche springs - they told me they are the ones in "Germany" that Porsche would use if they could here in the states if there were no importation height regulations.

Are the Porsche "German" springs any good? Any opinions / experience with this scenario?

Thanks in advance - T

ROW Springs

Yes - he did say "Rest of World" springs.... sorry for the confusion.

Any thoughts on these? Are they worthless or should I push him to install aftermarket?

H&R ARE THE WORSE SPRINGS TO GO WITH.. I had them.. IT was so bad H&R refunded me my money and so fourth for how bad the car handled and looked with them on it... The car sagged in the rear and when driving in wet conditions the car kept lossing the rear end.. WORSE SPRING SET EVER..
