So if you know anything about me and my Turbo i have had more problems with the fuel pump then most have with their entire car... Well today Porsche called telling me as follows.

"Mr. Elias PCNA would like us (The dealership) to drive your car around and go through about 3 to 4 tanks worth of gas. The reason this is, is because if the fuel pump does go bad again we dont want you to have to go through the hassle of being broken down on the road again.."

When i asked who would be test driving the car... They said their service manager... Who is that you might ask...Well "HER" name is Kim and she is about 5'9, blonde hair, blue eyes and is more of eye candy than a trained tech to drive the car.

I am just gonna call them tomorrow and be like...um no... If it fails again thats it... I am not going to let anyone put almost a 1k miles on my car... I have issues when the porter drives the dam thing...Why should i be okay with some Woman i dont even know to drive my car for how ever long it takes to go through 3 to 4 tanks of gas... which i would think is a week or two...

THIS IS CRAZY...Any ideas on what i should do and say... Kinda a young guy here and you all more or likely have more experience with PCNA then i do... I just want a working Turbo...

Im with you. I hate to let even my best friends drive my car. No way would I let some stranger drive it for days. I think if it were me I would tell them you want them to buy it back right now. If they balk, I would hire an attorney who specializes in buy backs. Enough is enough.

A. I dont like others driving my car...
B. I for sure as heck dont want eye candy service manager to drive my car for 3 to 4 tanks worth of gas..

Especially since i get about 250 a tank... thats dam near 1k miles...

Putting aside the fact that she is a woman. I would never let my dealer drive my car for that long. I was going to have a heart attack when they said they would have to put 30 miles on my car. I just do not think it is neccesary in your instance, just as it was not in mine. I would decline their offer, but do not mention the fact that it was because of the woman driving because they will just tell you they can have someone else drive it.

Counter offer them with this...

"Listen i really appreciate the offer, but i'll do you one better. I'll gladly let Kim ride along with me for 3-4 tanks of fuel, but i'm going to pick her up, she'll have to stay with me, go to work with me, go to the strip club with me ect. So just let me know when i should expect her to show up, that would be great, and tell her to dress nicely, i mean, this is a Porsche here."

You should be golden!

THATS JUST FUNNY.... I dont think shes that hot though.. my girl would get pissed...

Oh the thing about her being a girl doesnt bother me...but the fact she is a barbie looking girl working as a service manager for a porsche dealer...it makes me ask, "What does it take to be a service manager." I mean some knowledge and wrench time i would figure would be a must have...Yet i really could never see this woman doing an oil change. But hey she is a sweet person.

Its just a car jeeez, I offered my service advisor to drive mine home if the problem I complained about wasnt traceable in the shop. I duhno I LOVE my cars but then again they are just that and can be replaced easily.
Otherwise drive the car urself and bring it back again if it fails again which I hope doesnt happen. Good luck, and another thing what is wrong with a woman driving your car, is it a sexual preferance thing on who drives her?

Just asking,

Bajo

First I would suspect that the boys are messing with you, and maybe that call did not come from PCNA. However if it acctually did come from them I would ask that the regional rep (your dealer can provide you with the name and number for this person) call you and explain the logic behind their request (hopefully someone isn't just heading on vacation and looking for a fun ride). Anyway I would want to know what type of compensation they would provide you for putting the 1,000 miles on your car (it does have a value impact)? How do they plan to insure it. If they get in an accident will they replace your car (not fix it replace it). Also I woiuld request a comparable rental car or loaner from the dealer (assuming you want to do it at all). An alternate plan may be to have them simply provide you with this person's number so when/if you do break down they can come and fetch you immediately and bring someone with them to wait for the tow truck.

If it were me I would be talking to the regional rep and would not send my car off with someone I do not know. If you have had lot of problems get a lemmon law lawyer involved now, so if you do need to give the car back you don't make any mistakes that hurt your case later on.

Just asking,

Bajo

I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH A WOMAN DRIVING.. i have a problem with barbie the eye candy service manager driving my car... I mean its not like a manual scion or something...its my porsche... and honestly i seen the porters slip on the clutch a little hard sometimes... So honestly i have an issue with her driving my car... I have an issue with EVERYONE driving my car... If i know you... and know you capable and economically able to drive my car then for sure i will toss you the keys...but if you cant drive stick or a fast stick, or be able to afford any damage done then "HELL NO..." but thats only for friends...LOL

I already have spoken to the regional rep... I been on the phone with him for a few months.. I am going to call him in the morning and ask him whats the deal with the test driving and the compensation behind it... Secondly i doubt the rental will be anything greater than an A4.. and also about replacing it... How can you replace a Turbo S cab...thats GT Silver, full leather package (expect in 3 places where optioned) and ordered by my Arnold the Terminator (as porsche told me after i bought the car and then i confirmed with some mutal friends.)... I am about to give up on owning this dam car... and go buy that dam 959 sitting on wilshire... I think they want under 300k for it.

supercup is right on the money here (so is destructo!). I really doubt this request came down from PCNA - I'm planning to ask a friend there if he's ever heard anything so absurd!

I haven't had a chance to follow your car's issues, but I do hope they get worked out! I'll ask my local Porsche guru what he thinks, but if a few mechanics have looked at it already, it's really a tiny chance he'll have any insight.

I've never heard of anything so ridiculous. You don't need to put several tanks of fuel through a car to verify if the fuel pump is screwed or on its way out.

I'd call PCNA and ask WTF is going on, and then see if you can find a competent private P-car shop to deal with the problem.

Kim is a very nice Service Manager but I too would tell them that I'll put the miles on and will check in every couple tank fulls to let them inspect whatever they need to inspect.
