2001 996TT Ruf (non-vin) for $79,900?
2001 996TT Ruf (non-vin) for $79,900?
I was browsing some classifieds and ran across this listing. It seems like good price at 79,900. Does anyone know this car or what am I missing? If something doesnt seem right it often isnt.
Thanks in advance.
2001 Ruf Porsche R Turbo. This car is an'01 996 Twin Turbo that was converted when new at the Ruf factory in Germany (it is NOT a Ruf VIN # car). It has only been driven 23K miles since new! It has never been wrecked or damaged in any way. It has had the following Ruf upgrades performed;
RUF R TURBO 550 HP ENGINE
RUF FRONT AND REAR R TURBO SPOILERS
RUF RACING STYLE LEATHER SEATS
RUF SPORT STEERING WHEEL
RUF INTEGRATED/HIDDEN ROLL CAGE
RUF INTSTALLED CARBON FIBER INTERIOR PACKAGE
RUF INSTALLED 6 POINT RACING HARNESSES
ALUMINUM GAUGES
3M CLEAR BRA
LAPIS BLUE PAINTED SEAT BACKS
HI-FI SOUND WITH CD
Please do not confuse this car with a stock 996 Turbo. You could buy one of those and then pay Ruf approximately $40K+ and have a car very similar to this one, or buy mine and save $$$. This car was on consignment last Summer at RUF USA for $125K! Now only $79,900

James Ross is an Exotic car dealer and enthusiast out of Birmingham, Al. He Overpaid for this TT last year and has been trying to sell it (Ebay, AutoTrader, and Rennlist) ever since. The fact that the car is not a "true" Ruf, with Ruf Vin#, drastically effects its sale.
Looks sweeeeet to me. That integrated / hidden roll cage is like a 15-20k option alone. Plus it has to be done in Germany. I think that car would be a keeper, and an absolute blast to drive. Their cars are so solid.

I remember when that car was listed for 125k last year sometime. Its been sitting forever.
The current price seems like a great deal to me though, I would pay it if I was in the market.

Make sure you get it thoroughly checked out. A great deal that has been sitting for 6 months scares me. On the other hand it could be a great car that isn't being sold because people like me are scared.
Absolutely incredible deal.
The IRC costs $20K and can only be installed in Germany. Ruf USA cannot do that job. The 550 package costs $30K.
If you decide to pass on the car, please forward to me the contact info.
I remember seeing pics of a Lapis Turbo on RAC's website a while back. It had a grey interior with grey GT3 seats and either Ruf's Modular wheels or Kinesis wheels. I don't remember correctly which wheels it had. If this is the same car, grab it. At that price it would be better than hitting the lottery.
All the best!
