stereo making "whirring" noise

When my stereo is on and its between songs, if I accelerate or decelerate I hear this annoying whirring sound. If I turn down the stereo I don't hear it...

Anyone know what this is?

OEM, but I added a CD player. It is OEM, didn't come with the car.

mine does it too.

OEM with factory CD player.

whirrs with radio or CD, but is intermittant (which always makes it more fun
to diagnose!!)

I agree with the ground loop issue. I've had ground loops in other cars and it is exactly as you describe.

Contact a car stereo shop for a professional solution.

I built my system, so I ran everything to a central grounding point; radio, amps, crossovers, everything. Then I made sure to use a large gauge cable (0/1) from the chassis to the negative on the battery. If this doesn't do it, run a ground cable from the battery to the distribution block where everything is grounded.

In theory, the chassis ground is sufficient, and everything can be grounded at different points on the chassis and be grounded identically. In reality, a chassis ground is dirty and will have interference from other electronic systems in the car.
