Gt2 numbers before/after Orton flash
Gt2 numbers before/after Orton flash
I put her back on the dyno to get some numbers after the flash. They speak for themselves. This was my bone stock Gt2 (dynoed on 9/30/06) vs my Gt2 w/ECU flashed by Orton (dynoed today) and new DV's. Same dyno (TPC), same operator, same gas (93 octane), same conditions only about 10 degrees cooler (high 40s today vs mid 50s to low 60s on 9/30/06). Much better torque curve and hp.
At a 12% drive train loss, she puts out approximately 550hp and 515tq at the crank. Divexxtreme and KPG hit the hp estimate right on the number. I also attached a copy of all three runs for today and the three runs prior to the flash. Just a footnote, based on the trap speed measured on KPG's Racelogic (127.6), the 483 rwhp is spot on when compared to Divexxtreme's trap speed/hp computations. The dude knows his ****.

Congrats for taking the time to post all your data including the GPS times as well.I was quite impressed that you wanted the GPS data posted even before you even ran and knew the numbers, hopefully more will be as transparent. I learned a few lessons from the times and data you produced. First, weight is a bigger performance penalty in these cars than I ever imagined. Secondly, after reviewing your shifting on our 60-130 and 0-130 times it is obvious I need to improve my shifting. That is an issue I may not have recognized without a direct comparison with your times. All you are missing is the track slips, but I am going to see those in person in May.... Once again thanks...All this info is a benefit to all looking at competing tuner setups. Now get some bigger turbos and an exhaust
Kevin
BTW Neil: I apologize for such a ridiculously inflated estimate of the crank HP on this car. 551.3...... what was I thinking... I will do better next time.

Awesome info... good to see u guys sharing this.... i can't wait to get my car back.. Ill make sure I do this...
BTW- weight is a huge disadvantage.... thats how some cars can run 10s.... its all about the weight... that's why I also state repeatedly that GT2 tuned cars should not be in the same league as our TTs... cause they are not.
For every 100 lbs saved u gain .1 seconds the strip. So I wonder how much the Evoms 1rst place, Sharky's, and Scott's car weigh,etc... that would some interesting info...

Nice work. Your A/F ratios under boost seem VERY rich. The stock graph hit 10:1 and the flashed graph dips below that!
The first mod I got for my X50 was a GIAC flash. I was very disapointed at first. The stock setup had a lot of lag and increased boost meant even higher RPMs to get max boost. I'm not sure If I'm describing this correctly. If the stock car took 3000 RPM to get to .8 BAR, then the chipped car would be doing .8 BAR at 3000 RPM but didn't make 1.1 BAR till 3500. There was more power of course but the fact that peak boost now came 500 RPM higher, made you feel like there was increased lag.
Then I discovered Speed Gallery (who did not do the flash). They came to the rescue with a Remus Exhaust and Upgraded Wastegate Springs. They knew exactly what I was describing. It seems that the stock wastegate springs are too weak to keep the wastegates shut. The exhaust pressure actually flaps them open resulting in poor boost build up and unpredictable max boost (sometimes low and sometimes correct). The car was immediately transformed. No Kidding.
I strongly recommend getting upgraded wastegate springs and an exhaust. Upgraded wastegate springs are the most under-rated mod for a K24 car. They will significantly help boost response and will keep your max boost much more consistent.
