HRE Wheel Care

What is the best way to clean HRE wheels. My car wash used a non acid based degreaser and the lips got spots all over them. They polished them with wax in they look ok, but I was wondering what you guys are using?

I asked the same with my Kinesis wheels and their polished lips. I was told to wash them with water and my standard auto body shampoo. Polish with Mothers Aluminum or Billet Wheel Polish. P21 and other wheel cleaners can cause the polished finish to haze.

I agree with the others, Mother's Incredible Billet Aluminum Polish is by far the best I have seen on the HREs. Top that with some basic quci detailer or wax of some sort to prevent brake dust buildup and you should be good to go. Make sure you dry the wheels after washing as well since that is where the spots and stains come from.

Simichrome, in my opinion, is the best at removing spots.

Try this.

You won't regret it. Best product I have used for keeping polished wheels clean. NOT for use with painted, powder coated or anodized surfaces.

I have the Kinesis Supercups and with all the bolts around the wheel, it would kill my fingers to get in there and clean the surface between them.

The P21S comes with it's own applicator. It's as easy as washing your wheels with a sponge. I haven't had to touch my wheels with aluminum polish in months.

The P21S polishing soap works great. Seriously BUY IT!

use soft water to finish it off & get a powerful leaf blower. make sure it's 100% dry is the key!

Like everyone else said, use a metal polish on the lip. I wash my wheels with the same soap I use on the paint (P21S), and also have P21S wheel cleaner to use during a detail. I then put Klasse AIO in the centers (mine are painted, therefore clearcoated. Not sure if they clearcoat other finishes).

These maybe?

X-post

Those look like the hand brushed centers, so I'm not sure if those are clearcoated (I'm betting they are). To be safe, use a polish on the lip only, and treat the centers in the same manner you would your paint.
