That is what "msindi" was saying in the earlier post, that you need the Carrera (2 wheel drive) wheel carriers, so you might just want to go the 14" Brembo kit sence you have 18" wheels.

Are you planning on racing the car on the track where you would need heavy braking?

You would just need the front carriers but other than that I don't have a clue. And who said that it wouldn't work?

All you need is new front carriers...there is a set on bay right now so check em out!!
Also, I apologize your tuner doesnt know jack...Oak (a member here) was one of the first to do this exact upgrade on his car: GT2 6-pots with steel rotors and matching pads...
Here is the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2460331231

The stock Carrera (2 wheel drive) carriers will not work due to the turbo front axle. You will need to get the correct carriers, from what I understand are very rare. Also, the stock spare will not fit the front. YOu will need to get the spare that comes with the turbo with PCCB.

msindi, not sure about the spare being able to clear the Brembos.

20C4S, If you are talking about the 996 C4 carriers, I'm pretty sure they are the same as the turbos.

oak,
for my understanding, 996 C4 uses different carriers than C4S & Turbo. C4 uses same brake as C2, while C4S & Turbo are the same.

for the brake system i have, i choose the 15'' front with 4 piston F50 caliper and rear 14'' F50 (same as front but with smaller piston to blance the braking power with the front). if i go for the 14'' front that i need to replace my front carrier to C4 to make it work. replacing the front wheel carrier also required re-alignment.

20C4S, If that is the case, that would make sense. Do you know anyone that has used the C4 carriers for the GT conversion? Not sure which carriers were used on my set. They looked identical from what I remember to the stock turbo carriers. Just that the calipers mounting holes were relocated.

20C4S, Had a moment to think about the carriers. If the C4 brakes are the same as the C2's, then why do the C2 guys trying to convert to GT steels have to get GT2 or GT3 carriers. By your assumptions that the C4 carriers would work, the C2 guys wouldn't have to retro-fit to GT2/3 carriers. Are you confused yet?!
