Everytime I have a tire repaired, mounted or replaced the tire center scratches the wheel. They always tell me that it night happen. Is there anyway to keep it from happening. I have tried goodyear, sears, and BFG dealer. Where do you go to not get screwed. I have toyed with the idea of buying my own machine!

Find a shop with a Hunter GSP9700 that specializes in selling/mounting high-end bling bling rimzzz, they won't scratch your wheels.

http://www.gsp9700.com/pub/search/findgsp9700.cfm

The place I go to here is awesome, I can watch them mount my new tires on a plasma screen while I'm in the waiting room sipping coffee.

Find a better installer!! I am lucky to be good friends with a top-notch guy and when he puts on my tires I am usually right there next to him. He also uses good equipment as well. It is usually best to find a guy who is used to tricky installations, that is key. Before I had tires mounted on my 19 inch BBS's, my installer put tires on some bling-bling 22's w/ a huuuge lips for a 7 series. After that, mine was nothing. Good luck.

If they warn you before they destroy the rim, walk away before they get the chance. I would show the service writer the condition of the wheel before they begin work.

Now, if you decide to get the rims refinished, you will still have a problem, even bringing it to a P-shop with the Hunter machines. The refinished portion of the rim is quite a bit weaker than the regular painted/polished portions of the rim, thus making it more susceptible to nicks/chips.

You have to be a little more careful with sport technology wheels, they 'stick out' slightlly more than a run of the mill TT twist and are prone to scratching.

Amazing that guys can be in business if they scratch rims. Usually they are too lazy and don't give a dam. Shop around different shops and see their work before you hire them.Just my 2 cents.
