Hey guys,
How easy is it to access the fuel pump? Where is it located in the tank?
Thanks.

It is in the bottom. There is a trick to getting it out. I can explain it to you if you really want to know.

Also, if you could clarify what you meant by "Tell the dealer to back date the clips on the pump line," I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

That's ok. let do it here so anyone else wants they can do it.

The trunk has a dome shaped cover over a box. 4 10 mm nuts hold it in place. Remove these. Next you will see a collar that is ribbed. Simple use a large screwdriver and tap the collar until it loosens up. Remember right tight, left loose. Remove the plug but squeezing the taps on the side and disconnect the main harness. There are two hoses that also have pinch plugs on them. Keep in mind the orientation and color of the plug. These are important. Next unscrew the collar completely off. Notice on the white section, which is the sender there is a little arrow on the left side. It marks the orientation of the sender to the tank. It is important to notice where this is. Gently pull the sender up. You will notice several lines hooking to it. The right side has two lines with a single release clip. Unsnap these. There is also a line that is simply pushed in. Just pull this out. You will also want to remove the wires. There is only one way they go in so install is easy. Now reach into the tank on the left and right side there are a series of hoses. Pull these straight out of the sides and let them lay in the tank. Now, gently grab the pump with the palm of your hand and twist to the left. It will unhook from the bottom of the tank and you can pull it out. Once out shine a light down there so you can see the hook where the pump latches in. You simply need to turn it right when you reinstall it.

Don't forget that you will need to re calibrate as the readings will be off when you start it up again.

PorschePhD,
Thanks alot for that info. I plan to take a look at my car this weekend and I wasn't sure how involved the process might be. You mentioned in another post that there is a line that is prone to coming off and that the clips need to be updated. Which of the lines that you mentioned above is it?

cjv,
What exactly do you mean by "need to recalibrate"? How would I go about doing that?

Thanks alot guys!
Mark.
