Removing Nav for aftermarket headunit

I am wanting to upgrade my stereo in my 01' with factory NAV. Would like to go with a nice 7" screen like the Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD. I am looking to upgrade the sound and I figure I never use the NAV anyway.

Will I encounter any problems with removing the unit? I have read that I will lose my On-board computer info? Also, is there any directions for removing the NAV system?
